Re: YALBT (Yet Another LED Bulb Thread)

Our city does recycling pickup on garbage day (today incidentally). They just dump whatever's in the bin into the truck. Let the recycling plant figure it out. When the selling price of recycled materials doesn't cover the cost of separation, storage, transport, and all that, all of that blue...

I just pulled up the Northeast Radar Loop (http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/northeast_loop.php) after your prior post and the only place in NY with any activity at all was the Tug Hill plateau. Ask any Army/National Guard grunt about winter training at Fort Drum.

Haha I checked the radar and forecast for today. Another 3-5 inches expected with this next band of precip. For me I'm at the inflection point where I'm no longer emotionally defeated by winter weather, but really just want to see how far into Spring we can go. At this point I just want to watch th...

Re: Case selection for silence, on air?

Are there any cases that have ducted intakes for the GPU and/or CPU? Back in the day I had modded an 80mm fan mount in the window to duct for the intake on the blower-style cooler for the GPU. That gave it fresh air and exhausted most of the heat directly out of the case. Not any more, or at least ...

Seeing as the "newest" product on their website is for 3xxx Core chips and the most recent copyright date is 2012, I'd say they're an ex-manufacturer.

Looking at the data I could easily do Anchorage year-round. The record lows aren't too far below what I'm used to here in VT and it doesn't get as hot. Florida? I don't do humidity. Arizona? I'd have to spend a summer at Dad's place in Bisbee (elevation 5,500') to see if "dry heat" is bear...

Here in VT there's a safe harbor use tax on our income tax forms. Pay 0.1% of your AGI as use tax and you're in the clear. Since Amazon now collects sales taxes for just about every state, calculating the effective purchase amount for my safe harbor payment comes out just about right.

Avoid R&P on internet sales taxes?? How?? Current SCOTUS precedent ( Quill Corp. v. North Dakota ) requires a physical nexus in a state for said state to mandate collection of its sales taxes on online purchases in that state. On April 17, SCOTUS will hear South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. , with th...

The A11 is an example of what Apple has accomplished to date. In a very confined market space. How many decades back must one go to find an Apple desktop chip widely regarded (a/k/a including those not infected by the RDF) as clearly superior to the x86 equivalent of the time? One does not win back...

Listened to one of the all-time classic albums on the way home, namely Mott The Hoople and All The Young Dudes. Classic early '70s glam rock (though it's still more blues-rock to me).
