Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

Maybe both? I like can goods simply because I can get them on sale every so often and keep them around in case of emergencies and/or for when I'm broke. Don't get me wrong, I do prefer and buy fresh meat and other foods. Canning is/should be dead. Sterilization of vacuum-sealed packages through irr...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Bored in the Chicago hotel room and the TV is on the Travel Channel (ESPN is borked), from whence I learn that the modern grocery shopping cart was created in Oklahoma City, OK in 1937. I feel so much more enriched and educated knowing that. The only 2 movie channels seem to be locked in 24-hour rep...

Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

I wonder if cultured meat does takes off if there would be a big enough market for canned horse and buffalo meat? Well, should this iniquity ever come to pass, I sincerely doubt that cans will be the carrier and that vac-pacs will be the preferred sales medium. I know we're headed there at some poi...

Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

I don't know about eating canned pheasant, but if you gave me a decent brand of French canned horse I would eat it just to see what horse meat taste like. Tried to find one, but with no success. Horse meat is known to be much less fatty than beef cow, so I'd wager that your best analog would be bis...

No, I was expecting that's why you can't find a french can of "canned horse." It would be called something else and processed Um, cheval en conserve? Reminds me of a M*A*S*H episode near the end of the run where Charles and Margaret share one of his "French treasures" recently s...

Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

Hmm, looks like in some places, people are actually selling pot roast or stew as canned beef in gravy. Let me get this straight. You're actually expecting to find a can on a supermarket shelf that is marked "canned beef" and your expectation is that when you open it you will find a single...

Back when I was in summer YMCA camp, racks of #10 cans of Dinty Stew were a common dinner. Probably explains why I still like the stuff.

Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

True, but aren't Euros worth more than the US dollar right now? My favorite FOREX site says $1.12 per Euro. That said, one must take into account the vast differences between EuroZone VAT regimes and US sales tax regimes to even try to approximate relative prices between the two currency systems. I...

And my low ABV IPA was tasty as well, though there was enough residual malt to make it a carb load on top of a Cuban sandwich and a pile of fries.

Revolution Brewing's Fist City "Chicago Pale Ale". 5.5% ABV, no IBU specified. Mildly hoppy, malt somewhat thin, feels thin on a "swish", and dies quickly in the mouth. When you're in the Loop and the only place you can buy canned beer is Walgreen's, this is far better than domes...
