Start with Smokey. The genre runs precipitously downhill from there. If there's an orangutan involved, blame Sondra Locke and chug a beer or seven.

And yes, as bthylafh notes, you can also shoot yourself in the foot... specifying the wrong destination when cloning to a raw device is guaranteed to result in a very bad day. Which is why I stick to the training wheels that come with Macrium ("do you want to do this?", "do you reall...

Re: Disk imaging software suggestions

Macrium Free is aimed at Windows and won't do bare-metal, though the paid version will. Ah, thanks. I take it bare-metal is all the sector-by-sector stuff that will capture the MBR, data, whole 9 yards? Yep. I've done a couple with my paid version (Home) and they take forever. You also can't resize...

I use Clonezilla at work and it's great. The only thing you have to watch out for (that I've noticed, at least) is that you can't restore to a smaller disk than you imaged.

Macrium can do that even in the free version.

Macrium Reflect is always a good choice and if all you want is a transferable image file, you only need the free version.

Re: Playing with a 41 year old subwoofer

I had those back in the day, and were replaced with the original Quad ESL which overall I like better. The DQ-1W was more of a high-quality normal woofer, since the DQ-10's bass response was so anemic. From memory, it went down to about 40 Hz fine, and fell off pretty quickly thereafter. And yet th...

There's a really good Indian/Nepali place just down the road and their lamb vindaloo is delicious (and spicy as hell). Haven't tried the goat yet, but they have it on the menu. Haven't had a bad thing from them yet.

I tend to be a bit proactive of maintenance of this car as I really would like another six years or so out of it. Like you, I "pre-load" the preventative maintenance. I expect to buy a new ride every five years and that the old one will have roughly 130K miles on it when it goes. I don't ...

I love (and am happy to watch) a close, well fought game in almost any sport. Was that all the first game was? Or is there more behind the 'dumbest game' comments? Was it just the 'dumbest' game because their favoured team lost? It was an ugly, sloppy, and poorly-played game on both sides, which dr...
