Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Adobe's solution to being unable to edit XFA forms and submit them is to move to a cloud solution with pricey subscription options. They will spring told that make those files earlier this year (LiveCycle ES4 and the like) and the format is basically dead.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Now that Apple has abandoned the Windows version of Quicktime (which they did years ago) the Windows version of iTunes has some annoyance stuff but it's really not all that bad. Adobe Reader DC is worse by a long shot. Somebody thought they were being funny and signed me up for some fringe nutball n...

Re: Reviews that would suit Tech Report

Yeah that's fair. I've got a 1200W unit that hangs over our oven, I like it quite a bit. Alexa integration wouldn't get me to give it up.

I think Engadget said it best:

Just... why?

Good news for Sega fans is that the Mega Drive Mini has been delayed because Sega dumped AtGames. https://twitter.com/SEGA_OFFICIAL/status/1042216730049753090 【Notice】 We will change the release of "MegaDrive Mini (tentative name)" announced at SegaFe's 2018 to 2019. We had been developing...

Re: Reviews that would suit Tech Report

Wearables is kind of a dead market. There's the Apple Watch and there's a bunch of failed products. Droid-Life had a really great post on that earlier this week. edit: I guess it was today. https://www.droid-life.com/2018/09/20/seeing-apple-watch-series-4-reviews-is-a-sad-reminder-of-how-lost-wear-o...

It's nice and all, but the PC is just no longer where I choose to spend my disposable income.

Re: Reviews that would suit Tech Report

I'm all for TR expanding its focus beyond just the PC, because the PC is boring. "It's faster than the last generation". There's a VERY rare exception where a new feature has a huge impact on fidelity like DLSS and RTX. Otherwise hardware reviews on PC components is flat-out dull. So yeah,...

I was in Indy a couple of months ago to judge in the Indiana Brewers Cup. Fogo de Chao is not very far at all. I'm at the downtown Marriott. Not to be confused with the JW Marriott which is next door. That was some confusing stuff when I rolled into town.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

I am in Indianapolis for a conference, and there are two things that I'd never seen before: 1.) First of all, downtown smells like raw sewage. And it apparently has for several years, at least . My group walked into a restaurant and ended up leaving because it was inside, too. Went to another place ...

Here's something weird: a guy created an app to play Atari 2600 ROMs from QR codes. The ROM data is encoded in a QR code, and then the code is read by an app on a Raspberry Pi and converted to a ROM for use with an emulator.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

I return something to Amazon maybe once a year for a refund. I don't chalk it up to anything other than bad luck. In this case it was a purchase from a third party with Amazon fulfillment. So lots of moving parts. No biggie. I took a shot on replacing my launch-era Xbox 360 (the one that was suppose...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Yeah, replacements always arrive quickly. On certain things, I've even been told not to worry about return shipping because it was (for instance) a defective Molex to 3-pin fan adapter. Return shipping probably costs more than the item is worth. It's the things that just don't live up to expectation...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

I very very rarely ever return stuff but when I do, I pretty much always have to contact Amazon chat in order to get them to process the refund. Been waiting since they received the package on 9/5, I figure 10 days is good enough to wait before asking. :-/

Re: Suggest Games with 4K graphics

I don't follow the question. (Not this thread specifically, the question just seems to come up a lot.) Just about anything will look better if you throw more pixels at it, and just about nothing actually needs those pixels for anything. There mostly aren't big technical limitations related to 4K at...

In unrelated news, we are currently sitting in the ER. Our 3YO tried to cut the top of her ear off by falling out of a chair and landing on a paint can lip. It was hard enough that it severed the top 1” or so of the ear in Twain, about 2” long. Waiting to make an appointment with a plastic surgeon ...

Very, very heated about it today so just wanted to post something about it. Mine would have to be the Assassin's Creed series. I know, they're usually a hit and miss, but the recent Origins was good, in my opinion. Black Flag was a love letter to pirate ninja assassins. I love that game with my whole body. I recently started playing Shining Force II. That stretches the def...

These days the only other exposure average Americans have to Roman numerals is the Super Bowl numbering.
