Re: Technology purchasing and "moments of weakness"

Hah, wait till you see the flat earthers audiophiles claiming using different filesystems in a PC can somehow affect sound quality. Now that would make me laugh. Well, you have to format everything NTFS. FAT32 prevents you from capturing the highest-fidelity possible, since you'll butt up aga...

Re: Technology purchasing and "moments of weakness"

I don't have moments of weakness so much as I just lead a weak life. I see something, I have the money, so why not? Not a healthy way to live, but it's fun. Most recently it's been old gaming consoles. Fortunately it's not very expensive, and I've been paring back over the last couple months. Got it...

Well that is really wild. I had no idea that was happening. Would be cool if you could "overclock" the resolution to get it up to 4K/60+Hz.

They generate almost instantly on my MBP in Chrome. Doesn't seem to work right at all in Safari. I'm getting the hang of what it thinks is what. Every circle is an eye, so that's helpful.

Scroll down the page and you can make buildings, shoes, and handbags, too.

Got an NES Classic Mini as a Happy Birthday gift to myself. Been playing a lot of the original Final Fantasy. It's super good.

Also on my second time through the Battletech campaign. It's still amazing.

Once you figure out which of these games you like the best, buy an SNES Classic and be done with it. (LOL) But seriously though, the games you plan to play is priority #1. All of the consoles offer similar capabilities, aside from their game selection. Even PC Gaming can be good couch gaming if you...

Sure, the Spanish Rice is just a form of rice, but you'd think AZ has something a little more Americanized. As for the Buckeye, I was pretty sure that was an Ohio thing, and a breaded pork tenderloin would be more appropriate, IMO. EDIT: added Wiki link with a picture. Maybe I'm un-American or what...

I use the Caller Name ID app through Verizon. It doesn't block everything but it does a pretty good job of identifying spam. In general it feels like a never-ending battle. Most of the people I want to talk to text me anyway. I've gotten to where if the number isn't one I recognize, I don't answer. ...

If you're considering switching to passive noise cancels, the Shure SE215 is a great buy. They frequently will hit sale prices around $80. The foam tips do a great job quieting the world around me. I've had a pair for about 2 years and have used them (no exaggeration) hundreds of times for everythin...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

My dad got a Cub Cadet XT2 last year. Doesn't run on diesel, probably not quite as big, and doesn't likely have the horsepower, and didn't cost nearly as much but it cuts his ~.75 acre yard really really fast. It'd cut my grass in about 10 minutes flat and a chunk of that would just be to get the ga...

Replacement screens aren't expensive, and backlit GBA screens can be had for not much more. But the best way to play GBA games (IMO) is on one of the backwards-compatible DS models (original, DS Lite) or, if you have a Gamecube, the Game Boy Player.

OLM files are only "useless" if you want to migrate to Windows, which your first post does not indicate. If you want to back them up on your Mac and restore to another Mac, the OLM format should work just fine. I have lots of complaints about Outlook 2016 on the Mac. It's missing so many f...

Re: Apple working on ARM chips for Macs

This argument of "UIKit on Mac makes it so easy to go ARM" is a popular (yet kinda dumb) argument. If Apple went ARM, they'd still have to port the existing APIs to ARM. You can't not do that, or else your ARM platform can't run 99% of the software out there. It's like Mac OS X 10.0, excep...

On my second playthrough, I got two Quickdraws before I got the Argo. One was from a story mission where a Quickdraw shows up as a boss. Totally accidental "Lethal Damage" from a pair of AC-5 headshots gave me full mech salvage for the first. That was great.

It conflicted with Lethal Weapon which I think is better than the Mel Gibson movies. Like Samuel L., Damon Wayans makes everything he has appeared in better, even when he's playing a straight man. And the Riggs character is more thoroughly explored. That's some seriously high praise. My wife and I ...

Powered USB hubs sometimes help when your laptop can't supply enough power for the device from the port. It would be a cheap thing to try. Yeah, powered hubs are great for all kinds of things. I had a KVM that wouldn't work stably unless it was powered by the hub, because it drew too much power. I'...
