Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Learned to drive in IN, and I was always taught to get over and stop. If nothing else, I'd rather give emergency vehicles more room than they need just in case. On a related note, I've been watching dashcam compilations on Youtube. I've never trusted the drivers around me, and those videos just enfo...

Marvel: 1) Jessica Jones 2) Daredevil 3) Luke Cage ... 4) Iron Fist I generally prefer good stories, so Jessica Jones ends up on top, but Daredevil's action makes it a close second. Luke Cage is also a solid series sporting the best soundtrack of the bunch. Iron Fist ...needed a few more months of d...

Re: What are you playing right now?

D3's Necromancer is a ton of fun. It could easily be a case where the class is OP at launch to generate buzz, but I still think the corpse mechanic will be fun. I picked up Dark Souls III on the Steam sale, and that game is really bad at retaining new players. I can see the appeal, but there's basic...

I got an EE degree, so that means I was thrown headfirst into all the mathematics. I got most of it, struggling the most on infinite series and DiffEq 1. I respect what the theoretical guys do, but I'm happy running back to the practical realm. And if anyone wants video resources for this stuff, PBS...

While at the beer store yesterday, upon viewing the ever-increasing packaging options I had a moment of clarity, presented here for all to see. Captain Ned's Last Theorem: Let N equal a positive whole integer greater than 2 and represent the number of containers in a package. For any value of N, a ...

Same here. But I consider cheesecake to be pie. It's apparently somewhat controversial. Cheesecake is technically a custard pie, so calling it "pie" is less controversial than calling it cake, IMO. Would a cobbler count? Blackberry is my favorite. Cobbler is like pie, but without any stru...

Been playing and replaying missions in Sniper Elite 4 . I really love the details they put into that game, and the shooting/strategy of missions are really fun. I also tried Dreadnaught yesterday, and I really liked it. It's still clearly in beta, but the core gameplay of flying capital ships is fun...

Re: EPA vs. FCA (Here we go again!)

As slowriot mentioned, Subaru has done a good job of closing the gap. Consumer Reports' highway testing of the 2017 Impreza put it at 41MPG. That compares well with the 43 of the Focus and Corolla, and 45 of the Mazda 3. That said, it'll be years before a used model is in my price range Just to add...

Re: EPA vs. FCA (Here we go again!)

These hits are really a shame, in my opinion, whether they're caused by intentional shenanigans or regulations that are tilted in gasoline's favor. I want diesel engines to succeed. As with many things, the main driver to [passenger vehicle diesels] is market demand. Europe got slammed with higher ...

EPA vs. FCA (Here we go again!)

Now that VW's emissions scandal has died down ( see previous thread ), FCA are taking a turn in the hot water over similar allegations against their diesel engines . Jalopink offers some more details. Basically, FCA did not fully disclose all the devices that mess with emissions. At base level, that...

Re: 16 Y/o dies from caffeine overdose

It's simple really. It's very hot to take something that people deal with on a daily basis and link it to causing death. It draws viewers hard. And I've met a lot of people that feel they owe something to a radio show, tv show, site, etc., that offered crackpot advice about health because they feel...

Re: 16 Y/o dies from caffeine overdose

This sounds like a wording error. The quote from the coroner is: "caffeine-induced cardiac event causing a probable arrhythmia." (This is referenced in the Yahoo article and additional articles turning up from a Google search.) So "overdose" does not sound like the correct wordin...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was excellent. My short review: "I went in for action and all I got was FEELINGS." And that's basically the takeaway. Some of the plot threads were super obvious, but the character development more than made up for it. I was also pleased to see longer-term v...

As always, InnerFidelity's Wall of Fame is a solid place to start. You *can* get better SQ @ $350, but you probably aren't going to get that SQ and active noise cancelling at that price. On top of that, Bose's QC line are basically designed for the business traveler who spends a lot of time on airpl...

The Phantom Menace has some really bad and/or polarizing elements, but it is a better movie than Attack of the Clones . So as a general arc, we know that The Last Jedi will have one big similarity to Empire : it will be darker/more depressing than its predecessor. I mean obviously.
