Re: The Nintendo Switch is pretty great

This is honestly, long term, what will be the main reason I still like my Switch. I actually hope it becomes a solid port / indie machine along with solid first-party support from Nintendo. And that's a solid plan. Nintendo will only get tripped if they try to go directly after the XBone or PS4, bu...

Re: The Nintendo Switch is pretty great

So...the whole "games you've already played, but portable" angle seems to be Nintendo's strongest selling point, and I just saw that DOOM (2016) and Wolfenstein II are coming to Switch. I'd expect a game like Skyrim to run fine, but if recent games like those play well enough, that might a...

Re: NFL 2017

I thought both teams looked good in the first half...on defense. And that's really good for Packers fans, since they generally have a top tier offense, especially in the winter. As for the alleged punch, 1) My guess is that it will be reviewed and the league will have to issue some sort of apology, ...

If you have the time, you may as well use it to prepare properly. If you rush to evacuate, you might miss something important.

Few updates worth mentioning... First, The Dolphins/Buccaneers game has officially been pulled from Miami due to hurricane Irma. The effects of that remain to be seen. IIRC the market effects after Katrina were not as severe as predicted but at the same time, a large portion of New Orleans was either not rebuilt or rebuilt a long time after the fact. I don't see Houston being that slow to recover. IIRC, Houston has some of t...

I think a scientific study needs to be done on Dunkin Donuts. I'd like to know how the same group of employees, using the same coffee source, equipment, and preparation methods can make a cup of black coffee taste different every time. How is that possible? The coffee could be sitting for different...

I think I read that 35" prediction was the highest ever? Yeah, that's going to be your main concern. Even if your area can handle "heavy" rain, getting THAT MUCH will probably upend your local drainage system.

So seriously...stay safe y'all.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Why does it have to be about "advancing the career"? Why can't it be about doing something you enjoy? I think that's the point you're making. Unfortunately, in many fields your income tends to plateau unless you're constantly moving up the ladder or into new areas, or else have some obscu...

Re: Console peasants....

On the PS4 vs XBOne front *~in general~* I would say that the Xbox has the better platform (auto/free cloud saves*, better controller, better media remote interaction**), while the PS4 does better with console exclusives***. Otherwise, they are both solid platforms that work as easy gaming, streamin...

Home Security/Cameras

So our home was broken into on Friday, and my wife and I are now looking at home security measures to prevent it from happening again. So I was wondering, what to gerbils use? We already picked up a couple of simple door alarms that will make noise if someone breaks in through a door (will hopefully...

I'm stuck at the DMV. Time to renew my license, have to do everything except the road test. Been here 2+ hours so far, not done yet. More of the DMV process needs to be computerized. Learned to drive in IN, and I was always taught to get over and stop. If nothing else, I'd rather give emergency vehicles more room than they need just in case. Marvel: 1) Jessica Jones 2) Daredevil 3) Luke Cage ... 4) Iron Fist I generally prefer good stories, so Jessica Jones ends up on top, but Daredevil's action makes it a close second. Luke Cage is also a solid series sporting the best soundtrack of the bunch. Iron Fist ...needed a few more months of d...

Re: What are you playing right now?

D3's Necromancer is a ton of fun. It could easily be a case where the class is OP at launch to generate buzz, but I still think the corpse mechanic will be fun. I picked up Dark Souls III on the Steam sale, and that game is really bad at retaining new players. I can see the appeal, but there's basic...
