Re: Sports heroes

Plenty of Colts players. Maybe not "hero" level the way I've been inspired by my Dad, Grandpa, or teachers, but I grew up watching the Colts and have admired many players over the years (and Tony Dungy deserves a direct mention). I'm also a big fan of good NFL stories, too. You have to adm...

Ti-92 for me. Yeah, I was that guy. And holy crap, there's one on ebay for $20. I shouldn't be surprised, but wow :o lol a TI-92. Honestly never saw one of those all through my college years (and that's A LOT of Math/Engineering/Physics classes). I was definitely an outlier with the 89. Almost ever...

The per Terabyte cost is really good on this. More than I want to spend for a single drive, but still a very good value.

The Last Jedi is #2 among Star Wars films at the box office, and is selling well in home media, yet "fans" are convinced that Disney has killed the franchise. Never heard of inflation eh? Also argument from popularity fallacy. Yes, Disney will make money. Not my money though. http://www.b...

Re: STAR WARS TIME! - Spoiler Lock Lifted

I'm basing my statement about the Jedi needing to die on the portrayal of the council in the prequels than anything else; ineffectual, hypocritical, bloated. Yeah, it needed to go. I think the prequels are still canon, but I could be wrong. But the Jedi Council from that was pretty crappy. I think ...

Re: STAR WARS TIME! - Spoiler Lock Lifted

Hell I agree with Luke that the Jedi, as they were, need to end. Given his character in the original trilogy, I actually think his retreating to hermithood made sense. I agree... and honestly, I don't see why so many people (including the actor) saw it as being out of character. He watched his own ...

All of the Applebees near me have closed within the past few years... and nothing of value was lost (unless you're really into $2 Long Islands, I guess). I eventually expect them to go the way of Bennigan's. Trivia: The chain was acquired by IHOP about a decade ago. Guess that's not working out too...

Re: End of an Era - Toys R Us

What I anticipate happening is continued consolidation and culling for five to ten years, at which point the surviving mega-retailers get complacent and start losing out to a new breed of local stores that can keep their prices down by buying direct from the manufacturer or through low cost Alibaba...

Sounds similar to the demise of Sears. Hey! Sears outlived Toys R Us! If you can call the current state of Sears "living". They don't want to go on the cart! It's not just that, they are crushed under the debt from LBO from a decade ago or so. They needed to grow, but they aren't going to...

Re: End of an Era - Toys R Us

I think that one way of reading this news is to say that all retail is doomed and that Toys R Us is just another casualty of the e-commerce. That's a popular narrative for a lot of stores and there's a lot of truth behind it, but TRU peaked in the early 90s and had been declining ever since Wal-Mar...

Re: Buying a console

Are there any meaningful differences between the two in terms of game pricing and accessibility or does it come down to battle of exclusive titles? Focus on this point. There might be some visual diffrences when looking at a PS4 vs. XBOne (and PS4 Pro vs. XBOne X), but overall I think they're going...

Re: Buying a console

General Opinions XBOne: more intuitive interface, better controller. PS4: More exclusive games if one already has a PC (I do). Games XBOne: Forza Horizon 3 and Rare Replay . PS4: Bloodborne and Horizon: Zero Dawn . I do think that the main difference is the exclusive selection. Normally that is PS4...

I've been playing Bloodbrne , and it feels very, very strange...I like this one A LOT more than I did Dark Souls 3 . It may be because I played most of DS3 and "get it" now, or it may be because I am only a few bosses in. Still, I find it ironic that I am somehow less frustrated by a From...

At $5, it's probably more expensive for both UPS and Amazon to process a return, so they just "trashed" it by fulfilling the delivery. Speaking of making things more expensive, that harness nonsense is going to cost the shipper, and if they are a small business, the hit to their reputation...

Re: I need suggestion for a Robust Gaming PC

Some shops will build custom PCs for you where you have more freedom in choosing the specs. e.g.: https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ I know it was 9 years ago, but I got a PC from CyberPower and was happy with it. Prices were pretty in-line with Newegg components, too, so I only paid ~$50 in labor, IIRC...

Philly's win last night also brings up some fun trivia looking at Super Bowls for entire divisions. 1) The NFC East is the ONLY division to have 4 Super Bowl Champions. Realistic space combat would probably be conducted with light-speed weaponry (i.e. lasers), at incredibly high speeds, by AIs acting and reacting faster than the human mind can comprehend. But that doesn't make for good cinema, does it? Whaaaaaa? That would never exist. Okay, maybe if we worked for...

I'd definitely go with a console. Those are going to be small, should be low power, and they'll be plug & play. Easiest "make it work" option, IMO. And really, a Switch is probably the best option for travel. You wouldn't even need a TV/monitor, you could take it out wherever you go, a...
