Re: need little bit help on build a Intel Mini 515RYH

after use a HP atom pc which useless for most of the time , as what you all mention no point to go in to this kind of small scale pc if it is not powerful enough + values over money.

HP Mini come with SATA drive but i recall it also mention M.2 Interfaces too ..can i fit a M.2 SSDon it ?

I just want to build a small mitxfor daily use + torrent + occasional video decode using handbreak for Ipad(kid cartoon). By "Handbrake" did you mean en code instead? Depending on fast you need the jobs to be this is the key point to whether or not an i5 is appropriate. True, i seldom tim...

Re: apple mini or DIY new pc

We have an i5 NUC outfitted with an 8 GB sodimm and a 250 GB M.2 SSD. As I mentioned it has been great for what we do, but that has not included video encoding. I guess a couple considerations for video encoding: 1) The speed will be lower than that of a comparable desktop Core i5 or i7 for encodin...

Definitely take a look at Intel NUCs as well. We use a couple at my work and have been happy with the performance for the price and size. I'm not transferring much data, certainly not more than 5 GB/month. Tunnelr does look interesting, though. not too expensive either. The thing is, though, I'm already paying for the Linode, so rolling my own doesn't add any cost (besides my time, but setting up VPN won't take much time at all). I t...

if you end up with a relatively decent set of hardware ... why not try virtualizing pfSense ... this way you aren't wasting an entire hardware kit on just pfSense. I've had a couple people at work looking for the newer T/S model Sandy Bridge CPUs ... plus some cheap ram & Intel NICs ... you can...

It looks like you can purchase a pre-assembled NAS more affordably than you could build one from completely new components. Hi JustAnEngineer , I was thinking ...
