It may not seem like it with all the playing time he has missed, but I believe he is beyond his initial contract.

Re: Something's different...

I kept my optimism thanks to drfish's posts here mainly due to his enthusiasm and glass half full attitude in spite of the red flags in the things he wrote. That optimism evaporated after I've googled the new owners and read the post/article about the site redesign by Renee. I'm sorry to say this, ...

Re: Something's different...

From all that is written, a designer was hired to modernize the unseen parts mostly. Unfortunately, the designer changed the front-end in a particularly amateurish way, IMO then put up an unfinished product on a most unfortunate day. It’s Wordpress, so it can be customized - probably to what you, I...

Re: Something's different...

Well, I waited to say my piece, I don't know what has happened to the TR I knew but damn it breaks my heart to see the damage done here. I've been here a long time, and seen many things happen over the years....but I don't even know what to say about these terrible changes wrought on the site I use...

Re: Something's different...

What really sucks is the best review TR has had in a long time is getting lost in the complaints about the new UI. Zak must have put in a ton of hours of testing in the last week and the article has all of 30 comments, with a decent chunk of those about the UI and not even mentioning the review its...

Re: Something's different...

I agree with the question about the facebook and other links. Usually, those links exist as part of arrangements allowing tracking - obviously something undesirable, but probably ok for some if it allows revenue to support TR. My concern, given the indication that the site development is outsourced,...

Re: No... not him! Don't tell me they got him too!

Hope you all manage to keep the lights on. It's a shame that the site did not manage to move with times and created some YT presence as the content was always very high quality, but I guess that alone does not pay the bills. Even if it's just video without a presenter, it would bring in some additi...

I would like to be supportive. The people working here do a great job and deserve the right to have the site look good to them. However, I can’t help but think “If it ain’t broke...”

The “At a glance” of the home page was so much more informative.

Don't you think you're being a little hard on Mark Sanchez today? I mean, his team is playing the Giants today. Giants!!! How can a normal human fight them? They don't allow slingshots in the NFL any more. Against that juggernaut - the Giants already have 5 wins in this young season - Mark was merel...

Re: upgrading a graphics card

The posters seeking more information are all correct, but a little explanation may help. A web search using your specs, including the "AMD Elite" processor name, turns up an HP 700-210. The specs for that machine show that it used what HP or AMD marketed as an AMD Elite A10 APU (which is a...

Re: Is a bigger monitor with lower pixel density necessarily worse than a smaller one with higher pixel density?

I still personally don’t see the value in scaling. I’ll admit I haven’t seen one work. 27” at 1440p or 23” at 1080 seems to be about right for me. This is for work stuff. For gaming it is all about GPU resources. Monitor size is all about vision and its corollary - youth - IMO. When the Mac first c...

Ought to raise the driving age to 50 anyway - there would be less traffic. :D With a max old driver age, and mandatory retirement of the driver's license, at 60! Here in Idaho, license renewals are shorter after 62. But I agree with the idea of replacing my drivers license with a fully autonomous v...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

I didn't like anything my parents listened to growing up. Obviously as you get older tastes change, but I wouldn't say at my age (early 30's) that my parents' and my tastes in music line up that well still. FWIW, I like Rush, but not enough to perform 2112 at a high school talent show. My parents d...

Oculus bricks all Rifts connected to PC's!!

It seems there is a "small" bug in Oculus' systems that just broke any Rift connected to a PC: https://twitter.com/natemitchell/status/971428374982705152. They all call home, and the certificate that it's a valid Rift contained a hard-coded date that just passed. Oculus says they are worki...

I don't think the market can be ignored.

I do believe that the companies can serve both the gaming and the mining markets by offering a differentiated product.

As to laughing at others' pain....

Re: Video card prices

The fact that companies seek to maximize shareholder value does not mean that they cannot do so more intelligently by differentiating markets. Right now, they can sell to miners but not to gamers, due to price. That also has used up their production capacity in the recent mining increases, but that ...

I just visited the local Altex shop. Sales rep told me they received a big GPU shipment Thursday to fix the hole in their shelves. Say for example some crazy person is passing in the right lane and driving like it's another Fast & Furious movie, which if any of these safety options would detect that? From what I know most blind spot monitoring only handles objects already there and just outside of the box. This is my large...

Help me understand, why do you start useless threads like this? Not all people who are into tech as a hobby or day job hate sports.
