Re: My new build, opinions please

PS: Here's a picture of the Hyper 212 EVO with a graphics card installed in the first PCI slot. I've yet to see a 120mm heatsink that interferes with PCI slots , The 212 Evo also shouldn't block any of your RAM slots. Heatsinks with thicker fins might block them though. The mITX ASRock board the OP...

Re: My new build, opinions please

Couple of observations, The EVO will fit, but it will block the PCIe slot so you won't be able to use it for a graphics card. There are around 5 or 6 alternative coolers you could use without blocking the slot. The RAM you have chosen is rated at 1.8v which is high, you should be looking for 1.5v or...

Re: Graphics upgrade

Ok, I've just wandered across this review of the Club3D HD 7850 Royal Queen 1 GB. It get's a pretty decent 9.5/10 and the acoustics seem quite good! I can get it here for €216 delivered. I think waiting another week and pulling the trigger on this is my best option long term. Unless something major ...

Re: Graphics upgrade

Thanks guys, Lots of good info and opinions there. Yes my HTPC is m-ATX and running an H77 chipset so i believe crossfire is off the table there. I've made some second hand sales in the last 24hrs so I now have €200 to spend today. I would live the HD 7850 but it's over €200 everywhere i look. Shoul...

Graphics upgrade

Hey guys, I'm looking for advice on an upgrade. Moving from a HD6770 on a 24" 1080p monitor, to gaming on the living room TV which is 42" @1080p. I would like to play most current games at nice settings/fps. My budget is €130 (what i have right now) - €160/€170 (if i wait a couple of weeks...

Re: SSD Showing as Removable

Can you confirm that the drive is not marked as "removable" in the BIOS?
Should be under drive options.
On a recent Asus board, and my currant ASRock board, any drive can be selected as hot-swappable or not, allowing quick removal ie. in a hot swap drive bay.

Re: Can anyone HELP me?

When i received the replacement SSD, the first thing i did was flash the firmware on it, and also my motherboard, to the newest releases. The random shutdowns have stopped but the instant reboot after shutdown still persists. With the other psu i didn't have the problem of the pc restarting after i ...

Can anyone HELP me?

Hey guys, with the help and knowledge here, i've built over 20 PC's in the last few years. Never had any major problems, and any minor ones were quickly troubleshooted and resolved. Also, i have been really lucky with over 100 components, that i haven't had a single DOA part. My luck changed recentl...

Re: Should i pull the trigger on this..

Did you consider Radeon HD5750 or HD5770 graphics cards? I did, but at the time the 5670 was 60 euro/80 usd, and the 5750/5770 was 100-120 euro 133/160 usd And it's not going to be used as my main rig but i'll tell you, there was a Palit GTX 460 1GB going for 116 euro/155 usd, that i was sooo tempt...

Dunno about that, but will the i3's, i5's and i7's come down to a price where i could get better perfomance for the budget (350-400)? :-?

Re: New build doesn't power up!

First take the motherboard out of the case and then attach the cpu and ram and the psu, try to power up then. If it does power up, plug in everything else one by one trying to power up after each part is connected. Sometimes if the motherboard isn't touching all the standoffs or is touching the case...

Re: i5 750 and RAM

That's cool, ya i knew the performance of 1333 vs 1600 would only be seen in memory benchmarks and not when i'm doing my usual tasks and games or whatever, so running "slower" doesn't really bother me. Power consumption and heat are top of my list so, even a minute shaving off either gives...

Re: i5 750 and RAM

So me running the cpu at 3.2GHz would only see the benifit of 1333 max, whereas if i wanted to go towards 4.2GHz, then the 1600 would in essence, be utilized, am i right? If so, would undervolting the ram slightly (1.65 to 1.5?) still see them running at 1333 and be benificial in any way, or is that...
