Couple of observations, The EVO will fit, but it will block the PCIe slot so you won't be able to use it for a graphics card. Can you confirm that the drive is not marked as "removable" in the BIOS?
Should be under drive options.
On a recent Asus board, and my currant ASRock board, any drive can be selected as hot-swappable or not, allowing quick removal ie. in a hot swap drive bay.
