It's a Lenovo Thinkpad T500 that i ordered through Lenovo's customize option. It has an ATI Radeon Mobility 3650 card on there, and i elieve that they left the intel gma on the on-board graphics setup. right now, the computer reconises the card, but says there is a problem with it. Ok. i've confirmed that it has been changed to on-board graphics. However, the Radeon isn't showing up in device manager. i don't know what to do!!!

well, i found a pretty good deal at costco on a my passport elite 500gb drive, so i got that.

I'll use that for school and videos, and the built in one for games.

ummmm, there is a port next to the vga, but it has a weird symbol above it. it looks like a "P"

and i lookd online. the esata port's connector (inside the port) is flat. mine has two things coming off of it on the sides. maybe i'll get a picture up.

yeah, sorry i didn't mention that.

it's a laptop, a lenovo thinkpad t500. how do i check if it has an eSATA port?
i guess i could use the external for all my school work and the internal for games if i must, but if i do have an eSATA port i'd want to use that.

Ok, so i'm looking to buy a portable/external hard drive for my time at college.
I need something that will be reliable, and cost-effective.

I'm thinking of either 500GB or 320GB, whichever withh be the better value. any suggestions as to brands?

yeah, the general concensus is that games will lag something aweful, since it'll be essentially a usb moniter. I'll check with my roomates to see if they're bringing any TV's.

and yes, it does need a cooling mat. It gets very hot when i use it. especially after a while of playing TF2.

the Gx2 or the GTS?

from what you said, the GTS seems t be the better one. it's cooler and isn't crashing your comp. can you live with the minor graphical glitches?

Ok, i'm looking to buy a mid-quality gaming headset.
It can't be too expensive, in fact, it can't be expensive at all.
BUT, it also has to work for games like TF2 as well as video chat.

Right now, i'm looking at this one

It seems to be ok, cheap, but easy to use and has good quality.

but you should wait for someone else to weigh in. i'm no expert.

Burnintest will test RAM, Physical Memory, Floppy and optical drives, video, audio, and MAYBE USB ports.

That's weird. Have you checked the properties of your c: drive? maybe something got changed.

I'm not sure of the default resolution. Everything seems smaller than i'm used to, but we have my home comp running on 800X600. 1280X720 seems right though. i might have a copy of XP, but we used it for our family comp, so i'm not sure it'd be completely legal. I wouldn't know how to run a virtual machine anyway.
