I have a single U2711. I have to say its fantastic for everything I use it for ( 3D programming/modelling/editing, gaming, watching video etc etc). I find I never have to maximize a window, as theres enough screen real estate there to not care, and I use Ubuntu most of the time so I can quickly swit...
I was afraid of that. I have the ATI drivers installed and its still that bad. The whole point of me installing debian was cos I was sick of the hassles with ubuntu and the likes, too many annoying bugs for my liking... I guess my hardware is a lttle "new" for this stuff. I shall play arou...
Hi all, So, i've just installed Debian 6.0.4 as a dual boot set up, so I still have windows if need be. I havent had this problem with any other linux distro I've used (specifically Mint OS and Ubuntu). Having installed Debian on my i5 2500k based system, and installed necessary graphics drivers to ...
My machine, which i built last year but is still way ahead of any games coming out nowadays is as follows: MoBo: Asus P8P67 (outdated now, id go with the z68 mobos if i had the choice now) CPU: Core i5 2500k (I dont think your going to need an after market cooler for your CPU. Unless your going over...
I just did a bit of googling, and found this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/247187-12-best-dell From the info there, yes you can stick 8gigs of ram into your machine. Also, dual booting is pretty easy. Lots of tutorials around the web. Again, use google (or similar search engine :) ) Edit: Dun...
Just installed it last week. 11.04 x64 on a Agility 3 SSD, with 12 Gigs RAM and an i5 2500k processer. Its bliteringly fast. Much faster than my Windows 7 install on the same drive. Boots from bios to log in screen in about 12 seconds! Firefox is open 1 second later. Who knew the powers of SSDs huh?...
And to answer your actual question, as far as i know, they will be the same socket (or compatible sockets) so I can only assume they'd be supported. It would be senseless not to support them!
The 240GB is very expensive is it not? I have the 120GB model, and its great. Fit my OS, the 2-3 games that im currently playing, and all my applications on it and still have room to spare. Honestly, i dont think i'd need more than 120GB for my OS drive. Movies/Music etc are all on a different drive...
Of course you'd notice, but it might not be a HUGE upgrade. If you want a very noticable speed upgrade, get an SSD (assuming you dont have one of course)
Just got it yesterday. Can happily say its not DOA. Will have to let you know if it dies in due time. It better not. Cost me €200, the damn thing shouldnt die soon! Anyway, I put Win7 on and man I am suprised. Lightening speed, though in my tests it didnt get close to the 500MB/s quoted top speed of...
I think you should work for 6 months first, prove to them that you werent working hard before you were made permenant just to get in the door, and then after the 6 month period ask for your raise. You may be lucky and get a whole lot more than the 2-3k more than you expect now.
I built a sandy bridge system recently. I got the i5 2500k and it hasnt had any trouble with any games so far (and I played most of the games you've listed except metro 2033 on it, and also some others like Farcry 2, x3 TC, the Supreme Commanders.. etc etc) I'm assuming (I'm not sure so correct me i...
Im finding it very difficult to source a K series sandy bridge processor for my new build. I have all the other components for my build except the Core -5 2500K that i ordered, which keeps getting pushed back and back in date (latest update was 11th february) Im in Ireland and ordered everything off...
Dragon Age : Origins on the ps3. Great game so far. Loads of depth...
Supreme Commander 2 on the pc. Fun RTS game thats easy to pick up and play for an hour when ya have the chance. Pity the multi-player is dying already....
Thanks all! Helpful i must say. Is the XBox still as buggy as before, i.e. does it still get the RROD commonly enough? At the moment, I think ill go with the ps3, simply for the blu-ray player. Im still a little undecided, im going to buy the <insert console name here> this weekend so i have till th...
So, i'm buying a new console for the living room and am caught between the Xbox and the ps3. I know the xbox has a greater number of games and is getting project natal (or kinect or whatever), but i have no interest in that so i'm not weighing on that at all. The ps3 is more powerful, though its dam...
I will post here my finished result! Maybe even with pictures of the build to boot :-) Thanks for the info guys. Been reading up on amd processers more and, although impressed, i feel that going with a mid Core i7 or a higher end i5 would be my best option, unless, of course, AMD release something d...
I dont have a monitor no. Ill have to fit one into the budget. Thats making it a bit of a squeeez actually. Primarily ill be using this for gaming, work can be done in work so dont really need a work pc. However, i am beginning to make/program games so thats something that will be used on the machin...
Hi all, Ill be finished university in a month and i may be lucky enough to have a job lined up straight away (yay :D ). I have a long list of items that I want to buy, including a projecter and a car, but the one with highest priority is building a (primarily)gaming PC but it also has to be usable f...
Ah but java is a wonderful beast that can do anything you like :) Hava a look at this http://devdaily.com/java/edu/pj/pj010016/ or (and probably better) http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Process.html The process class is basically a class that lets you run commands from within your j...
Did some calculations there: Assuming he had uniform acceleration (i know he didnt, but just for arguments sake) v = u +at v = 0 + 9.58a -> v = 9.58a u is the initial velocity. v is the velocity at the end. a is the acceleration. ----------------------------------------- s = vt - 1/2(a)(t^2) 100 = 9...
