Donate Your Knowledge...Support TR

Gerbils are often very knowledgeable creatures. You roam the tunnels of the TR forums to gather food (ideas/knowledge/experience) but usually have no benefit to share that food with others. What I am proposing is a new section of the forums where you "get paid" to provide solutions to othe...

Re: Sudden Transfer Rate Drop

I think it may be related to Samsungs SSD Magician software. I am not able to run disk defrag. The service "defragsvc" is stopped in the task manager but its not even listed in services.msc so I cant figure out how to make sure its enabled. When I click on Defrag and Optimize Drives in adm...

Sudden Transfer Rate Drop

Running Windows 8 and transfering a larger video file (4-12GB) between two internal hard drives on my computer. Both are Spinpoint F1's each about half full. I am running into a problem where the transfer rate drops from 145MB/s to 5-10MB/s no matter what file I am transfering. http://i716.photobuck...

Dual Monitor KVM?

Need a way to run a set of dual monitors (DVI)/keyboard (ps2)/mouse (usb) using either a laptop (HP Elitebook) and desktop. Laptop would be docked on an HP dock with the laptop monitor turned off. Whats my best option? I don't need audio but would prefer at least a single stereo option.

Re: Portal 2 Thread

Took me 5 hours for the sp. Overall sp is decent, but I think Valve is pushing this more towards a mp series. The levels in co-op are much harder imo as they require a lot of teamwork and timing. But, even without voice its fairly easy to catch on to the other players ideas with the included hint co...

Re: Next TR System Guide - When to expect?

Oh man, I'm getting exicted for my next build. Ive had the same case, motherboard, cpu (almost) and memory for four years now. Got my wishlist ready on the egg, so now I'm just waiting for the bridges to be rebuilt. Maybe a new system guide will appear along with the return of the motherboards.

Thanks for all the advice! Yes, I am getting paid directly from the staffing agency. I have no official connection to the actual company. On average about 23% of earnings are taken out for taxes (Fed, MED/EE, SS, State) leaving about $10/hr take home. I made more money cutting lawn in college.... I ...

I was hired by a staffing agency as a 6 week contract "Solidworks Drafter" back in November for a local company. Having just graduated with a Mech. Engineering B.S degree and being stuck in the wonderful US economy, I decided to take the job to help pay the bills while I look for a full ti...

BF:BC2 Beep on key stroke & sticky key

Im having two small issues with Bad Company 2. First one: Sometimes when I play I get some sort of BEEP noise over the headphones when I press a key. Its not a motherboard beep (although the sound is similar) as I read some other people get. It seems random and hasnt changed with any driver updates....

Yeah I know the MB is really old. Dont remind me :( The BSOD problem started about 2 weeks before upgrading to the Q9550 though it has become more frequent since. Dont know if this is from the new cpu or if something else is becoming worse as time goes on. I just OC'ed to 3.4GHz and booted fine. Sta...

I am all of a sudden having lots of issues with my computer and I am out of ideas on how to fix it. Any ideas? The problems first started about three weeks ago with BSOD's about every other day. I dont know if its related, but it started a few days after I updated to 260.99 Geforce drivers. Here are...

I use Mpg2Cut2 to cut commercials from mpeg recordings. Havent had any problems with it yet. Use the [ ] to specify which sections to keep and < > to move between frames. Well, I replaced the sub with a two coil driver. Turned on the system and the power led started flickering and then out completely. Replacing a subwoofer driver

I have a Creative S750 PC sound system that is needing some repairs. After thousands of hours of use, the sub has started making a nice metal-on-metal popping sound on hard hits. So, I took it apart in order to find a replacement driver and ran into some problems. I dont know much about speakers bes...
