Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+

As an update, the thing is already running with Raspbian, it was pretty easy to setup and upgrade the OS. I just had to install Kodi, to be able to watch movies, without having to follow long instructions or installing other programs, because by default, it only provides a command line video viewer.

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+

Sorry, I put the wrong link to the product, I've double checked it and I purchased the 3 B+ version. Having read your answers, I will go for Raspbian, which seems to be the best supported distro on the Raspberry. I hope it is good enough to play Full HD videos, and youtube streaming. Thanks again fo...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+

In the end I decided to buy this kit: https://www.amazon.com/Raspberry-Pi-Desktop-Starter-Black/dp/B0757ZYW4T It comes with a PSU, so I guess it will be good enough. Hopefully it will arrive on friday, I'm impacient. Is Raspbian the best option for it? Or do you recommend some other options? I do ha...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+

Thanks for the reply! Well, typical use will be mostly watching youtube videos online and some downloaded movies offline. Don't pretend to run it 24/7 at full load. At most I will plug the usb keyboard+touchpad reciever, and an USB flash drive to transfer info from and to the machine. Maybe I would ...

Raspberry pi 3 b+

I have two simple questions. Is a Samsung tablet charger rated at 5V and 2A enough to act as a PSU for a raspberry 3 b+?
Do you need a heatsink for it under regular use?

In Windows I would like to know the performance of Hyper-V on different CPUs including the one I use, but also have information on VirtualBox, and VMWare performance.
At work, we use KVM virtualization servers.

Hi all!

Is there any free software to benchmark virtualization performance on a PC running Windows 10? What are your recommendations?

Thank you!

Re: What are you playing right now?

I'm playing Starcraft 2 campaign. Bought the game some years ago and never really played it. Not sure if I'll get the expansion though. Did you at least sign into the game shortly after it went free-to-play? if so you would have gotten Heart of the Swarm for free. Oh I don't remember, and I didn't ...

Ryzen 5 2600X + Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 mATX AM4

Hi all I've finally decided to upgrade my ancient i5 3550 from 2012to a Ryzen 5 2600X, and I was looking for a budget but quality board to pair it with. I was thinking about purchasing the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming3 micro ATX motherboard, but I have two questions: - Do you think there is a noticeable in...

Re: Upgrading from an HD 7850

I was using a Radeon HD7870 GHz edition from 2012, and upgraded to a GTX1060 6GB 2 years ago, and got twice to 3 times the performance. In your case, if I had to upgrade I would go at least for the GTX1060 3GB or an RX570 to get a major improvement in performance, getting a lower card than those wou...

Re: SanDisk Cruzer Edge is *horrible*

I had one of those, (the 16GB version), and as you say, performance is terrible. Now I have the Sandisk Ultra Flair 64GB, and performance while not stellar is much better : around sustained 35MB/s whiel writing on an USB 3.0 port, and is not that expensive (around 24€ for the 64GB version). Re: Are you buying a RX 480?

At last, I ended up buying an ASUS Geforce GTX 1060 6GB OC Dual fan. A bit expensive, but about the same price of the RX480 8GB and more easily available. IMO it has better performnace in current games, consumes less power, and this model in particular has a very silent fan. This is my first nvidia ...

OMG, 16 inches is like 41 cm aperture, and that is quite huge! I'm sure that when you get that beast you'll be able to enjoy very nice views of the sky!

I love astronomy but I live in a city, the light pollution means I often struggle to make out our own galactic disc. When I visit the folks, the conditions are occasionally good enough for my dad to break out his Orion 8" reflector. It's all manual from 10+ years ago so none of that fancy smar...

I don't have a picture of my stuff assembled but I have a Celestron C8-SGT.  It's a 8", F/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain.  Considering it's 8" it is pretty compact so I normally take it to a friends house to use as I am in town and there are a lot of trees in my yard.  Between that and the weather...

The only issue I've encountered - and it's a weird one - is that with my key bindings, it tells me to right-click the mouse to enter a level after it's loaded... and it won't. I have to alt-tab out of Doom and then hop back into it, and THEN it's fine. Same happens to me if I customize key bindings...

Still running on my almost 4 year old i5 3550 (3.3 base/3.7 turbo), and I still have to find some program that will run slow on it.
So no, I don't think I'll upgrade my computer for a lot of money and not so great increase in performnace for a long time (2, or 3 years at least).

Fan speed did go to 27% but got stuck in there. Anyway, I remember testing this benchmark before and temps were 60-62 maximum. So I'm not ...

It surprises me that a Celeron at 2GHz+ can't play media files properly, and my 4 year old laptop, based upon the E-350 APU (1.6 GHz dual core) can play Full HD media without problems.
Can't it be some kind of software problem? Maybe drivers, maybe codecs?
