Re: What are you playing right now?

Back into modded Skyrim. I swear sometimes it's more fun setting up the mods than it is actually playing :)

Re: Oldie but goody - Sandy Bridge OC

I guess I was really lucky with my 2600K. I clicked some kind of 'auto-overclock' button in the BIOS, and it set the CPU to a max of 4.47Ghz.

Re: What are you playing right now?

Slay the Spire and modded Minecraft are my two main games atm. Almost got to the point of uninstalling hearthstone, a game that is easily my least favourite of all games I've played... and yet keep on playing...

Re: What are you playing right now?

Skyrim. 600 hours gameplay, and this is my first time fighting for the douchebag Stormcloaks. I suspect this once will be enough. Morally corrupt, self-serving, and just plain obstinately stupid for not seeing that "united we fight, divided we fall" adage holds true for them. Weirdly enoug...

Re: What are you READING right now?

Currently reading the last book of Gene Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun quadrilogy, and Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach Trilogy. BotNS is overrated imo - little known words and obtuse prose doesn't mean good writing. The Southern Reach trilogy was started because my sister wanted me to vet it as sh...

Re: Linux Mint malware warning

And it's a good idea to check hashes before installing *any* ISO. This protects you against both corrupted downloads and tampered ISO images. Unless the hackers updated the md5sum listed to reflect the tampered ISO, which I assume they did this time, as I believe they changed the website as well as...

Re: Another Linux Mint 17.2 issue? Or the same one?

I think I managed to fix my issue, which was a known bug with encrypted, separate swap partition not being used. I followed answer 4 at the bottom of this page: https://askubuntu.com/questions/341979/what-to-do-about-the-disk-drive-for-dev-mapper-cryptswap1-is-not-ready-yet-or Maybe this is of use t...

Re: Another Linux Mint 17.2 issue? Or the same one?

I'm a new user of Mint 17.2 XFCE too. Also having the same symptoms with memory, with 8GB RAM. If I play Minecraft (4GB assigned), and watch Twitch at the same time (using Chromium). I THINK my issue is more related to Chromium's known memory leak, but your issue makes me be less sure of that. Have ...

Re: Any (TV) cord cutters out there?

It's been about 10 years since I cut the cord. I don't have a TV (wall space completely covered with bookcases), and my PC replaces any tv/film based entertainment.

I thought the CPU was at 75% when in the BIOS, and not idle? Or has this changed now?

I have the 3700BQE; up here in Western Canada, it's about C$30 cheaper than the Sonata.
I imagine it's a mixture of the Sonata being so popular therefore having its price increased, and the BQE being new and hence Antec doing a loss leader?

I have the Samsung 900NF. Very pleased with it. Couple of points: suposedly text not as crisp as 900DF, but color better than DF. At 16x12 on DDR Radeon, text is OK (no more)
