Re: Creators Update - No Dolby Digital & DTS Anymore?

While the feature pack install didn't work for me (It only plays back Stereo over Optical still), I've since ditched the Realtek solution in favour of a SoundBlaster Z. Everything works perfectly for the optical, and sounds a whole lot better too - Especially when hooked up to my analogue speakers w...

Re: Creators Update - No Dolby Digital & DTS Anymore?

Thanks for all the input guys, but I'm almost at the point where I will just buy a new sound card. I roll back the updates a few days ago to restore the broken surround sound features and it was fine again. Overnight Windows updated itself again to the Creators update automatically. I checked yet ag...

Re: Script to Automate Speaker/Sampling Settings?

Have you given Audio Switcher a go? I use it to auto-switch between optical and analogue speakers, with a manual key press. It can be automated too based on input jack detection.

It will set sample rates and formats too, if you so wish.

Re: Creators Update - No Dolby Digital & DTS Anymore?

Thanks Morphine, I gave it a shot and still nothing. I started a further search on the internet and come across this page at Microsoft's support site. Perhaps Krogroth is right about something stealthily being removed, because on pages 3 and 4 of that topic my other question is answered: It's broken...

Re: Creators Update - No Dolby Digital & DTS Anymore?

Thanks for the reply, but yes - reinstalling the soundcard drivers was the first thing I did. I also reinstalled PowerDVD 16 but no luck. Does anyone here with Creative or Asus soundcards still have multi-channel sound? I'll chalk it up to rubbish/dated drivers if that's the case, but I suspect Micr...

2 x Asus Strix 1070's - Core was between 1972-1999Mhz and memory at 8800Mhz effective. Shame SLI isn't supported though. The CPU is actually overclocked to 4.4Ghz across all 8 threads, but it apparently can't detect that. Add me to the spreadsheet...! http://www.geekl33tgamer.com/images/Superpositio...

Creators Update - No Dolby Digital & DTS Anymore?

So, despite my best efforts to not have my main system update to the Creators Update (The "Defer feature updates" box is enabled), outside of my systems active hours it's installed it anyway. I could rant about that in itself all day, but perhaps for another topic. I was wondering if anyon...

There's several reports floating around that image retention is an issue on OLED monitors tho - Which I was quite surprised to see, and apparently isn't a problem on phones that use them. I'm all for an OLED screen (and at 4K - They look amazing), but we've not had to deal with that problem since th...

Re: How to remove the 6GB of Windows 10 you didnt ask for

I'm wondering if this issue of downloading 6GB of Windows 10 that people did not even ask for, but in fact cost some people money could be grounds for a class action lawsuit? Wouldn't hold up here in Europe, but the guys across the pond have success with some of them. Problem is, Microsoft said som...

Its somewhat interesting that they have to resort to getting threads locked like they did on Bleeping Computer and like several people have posted attempting to do in this thread. I can't speak for others, but it is not my intention to get threads locked. Why would I? I would be losing a source of ...

Careful of the reviews online for this, as they all seem to sing it's praises. The ones I've also seen show it outdoing the GTX 980 quite easily. Other sites who didn't get a Nano but review the Fury X had situations where having it beat the GTX 980 was a bit of a stretch. I smell a rat/bias with so...

Wireless Headsets - Advice?

So, I have already been using the Corsair Gaming H2100's on my main PC for the last year. I got them cheap, but while I enjoy the wireless freedom and flexibility - sound quality is terrible with music and the down mixing of multichannel sources is even worse. There's often severe distortion and awf...

Re: Ars Technica cites TR's work in comparing Skylake to 577

If you ask me the i7 5775C was clocked too low for being a desktop CPU and for what it cost. Not really - It's listed price is roughly inline with the price of the i7 4790K here. It's out of stock everywhere however, so guess that's a kind of moot point. If I were able to get one, I wouldn't turn i...

To echo everyone else here, I say get it but pick it up from somewhere like G2A to save a few £. The game was technically on sale from Steam once already, but it was a bit of a farce - The game price was increased to £49.99 one day before the "sale" over summer started, where it was reduce...

4K already pushes near the limits of human visual acuity on smaller screens. Would 4K be worth having on 30" to 40" computer screens? I've seen up close an Acer 4K 32" screen, and it seems to be about the right size physically where you don't need to use scaling in the OS to read thi...
