The Egg suggested plugging it back into the router, and it was fine. So, I tried the Linux idea as the disk still works. I boot into Ubuntu off a flash drive - the hard drive was detected and readable. It still breaks Windows when I re-started, so I copied all the data to another drive in Linux, th...
I've not tried the Linux idea, and have very little experience in dealing with it. Google search turns up some USB flash drive versions I can boot to without touching Windows, but does it come with disk check software like Windows does?
Evening all, I'm having a right time with my Seagate 5TB USB Hard Drive. It was being used as a NAS via my TP-Link router, but I now want to use it attached to a PC. the TLDR is basically as soon as it's plugged in, Windows 10 BSOD's with the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA error. Everything I googled ...
Looks like symptoms of a marginal HDMI signal to me. Could be cable, could be a problem with the console output. Thanks for the ideas JBI and LostCat . I've had a chance to try some things and I have fixed the problem (I used a shorter HDMI lead from the Xbox to Monitor) by relocating the Xbox for ...
Yeah, cable swap was first thing I did but it hasn't helped. The HDMI 2.0 cables I have are heavily shielded, very thick and don't bend easy. I won't rule it out, but I've also used the same cable shoved into my 1070's, and 4K/60 display perfectly with it?
To better describe my issue, I captured a video of my problem here: https://youtu.be/50m_Ddq_AW4 I'm wondering if any of you technical ppl here know what's causing this, and how I may fix it? The problem goes away if I choose 1080P on the Xbox, this display flickering and the blue lines only happens...
While the feature pack install didn't work for me (It only plays back Stereo over Optical still), I've since ditched the Realtek solution in favour of a SoundBlaster Z. Everything works perfectly for the optical, and sounds a whole lot better too - Especially when hooked up to my analogue speakers w...
Thanks for all the input guys, but I'm almost at the point where I will just buy a new sound card. I roll back the updates a few days ago to restore the broken surround sound features and it was fine again. Overnight Windows updated itself again to the Creators update automatically. I checked yet ag...
Have you given Audio Switcher a go? I use it to auto-switch between optical and analogue speakers, with a manual key press. It can be automated too based on input jack detection.
It will set sample rates and formats too, if you so wish.
Thanks Morphine, I gave it a shot and still nothing. I started a further search on the internet and come across this page at Microsoft's support site. Perhaps Krogroth is right about something stealthily being removed, because on pages 3 and 4 of that topic my other question is answered: It's broken...
Thanks for the reply, but yes - reinstalling the soundcard drivers was the first thing I did. I also reinstalled PowerDVD 16 but no luck. Does anyone here with Creative or Asus soundcards still have multi-channel sound? I'll chalk it up to rubbish/dated drivers if that's the case, but I suspect Micr...
2 x Asus Strix 1070's - Core was between 1972-1999Mhz and memory at 8800Mhz effective. Shame SLI isn't supported though. The CPU is actually overclocked to 4.4Ghz across all 8 threads, but it apparently can't detect that. Add me to the spreadsheet...! http://www.geekl33tgamer.com/images/Superpositio...
So, despite my best efforts to not have my main system update to the Creators Update (The "Defer feature updates" box is enabled), outside of my systems active hours it's installed it anyway. I could rant about that in itself all day, but perhaps for another topic. I was wondering if anyon...
"Yet another one of these threads". To the OP - Excellent and well written article. There's nothing in there that was a surprise, or of any real concern. This whole stats thing has been blown way, WAY out of proportion IMO. The vast majority of the permissions needed are to use things like...
Microsoft should go out of business instead of making software if this is what they do now lol. brah, like seriously. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? at least EU posts, once in a loooooooooooong while, something besides MS complaints. Heh, I blocked him after this trainwreck. H...
There's several reports floating around that image retention is an issue on OLED monitors tho - Which I was quite surprised to see, and apparently isn't a problem on phones that use them. I'm all for an OLED screen (and at 4K - They look amazing), but we've not had to deal with that problem since th...
I'm wondering if this issue of downloading 6GB of Windows 10 that people did not even ask for, but in fact cost some people money could be grounds for a class action lawsuit? Wouldn't hold up here in Europe, but the guys across the pond have success with some of them. Problem is, Microsoft said som...
Its somewhat interesting that they have to resort to getting threads locked like they did on Bleeping Computer and like several people have posted attempting to do in this thread. I can't speak for others, but it is not my intention to get threads locked. Why would I? I would be losing a source of ...
I can tell you hope it gets locked. Thats why your an astroturfer. You still have not explained that, awesome. Because of YOUR continued off topic posts. You were literally the first person to reply to the thread...Unwanted nonsense like your "just accept the free upgrade" posts. I sugges...
No, i replied to your post saying that people should "take the free upgrade" explaining why they might not want to. And what thread are you talking about? What thread did i make that got locked? Youre obviously TRYING to get this one locked because youre a Microsoft astroturfer. Some peop...
This thread was not created to debate the privacy issues in Windows 10. Why dont you go create your own thread about how wonderful Microsoft is instead? But it was YOU who bought it up in this thread to begin with? I also find your anti-Microsoft triad rather amusing with some of the theories you'v...
The various different Microsoft websites you can view them on are linked to in this thread. Ill look through it and get the links to post here. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/584522/by-downloading-windows-10-you-are-allowing-microsoft-to-spy-on-you/ http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/privacys...
Guys, I think Windows 10 networking has me thwarted, and sorry for the wall of text. Here's the problem. Both PC's in my signature are using Windows 10, and access the LAN via a Gigabit connection off the Asus RT-N66U router. Both computers are enrol into the same Homegroup, and also have several ot...
I was messing around yesterday and had the Resource Monitor open on the network trends and I was amazed at the difference between the Edge and Explorer. Quite a bit less going on with the Edge. Agreed - it does use next to zero CPU usage and has a reasonable memory footprint. It could be great, but...
Waco Nice ad hominem since you have no facts to back up your claims. You failed to give any kind of reason why a company known for corruption would have no reason to lie. Enjoy your spyware. Ill keep my copy of 7 and 8.1 with the telemetry patches disabled. As you have not tried 10, and have based ...
