Re: Rosewill AIO Pump in Rad?

Right, the most common pump placement is on the CPU block, it's seen it on the end of the road by the tubing but never dead in the middle of the fins. Looks like they're older model even used a low profile CPU cooler but this updated model seems to go to a larger profile one. I can't find any test r...

Re: Rosewill AIO Pump in Rad?

I see, I just thought having the pump in the middle of the rad would impede airflow in some capacity. I've just never seen it placed in the rad fins like that before.

Rosewill AIO Pump in Rad?

I stumbled on this AIO from Rosewill. It seemed pretty run of the mill until I saw they built the pump into the radiator. Seems most AIO's are either work as intended or such terribly now a days, so I wonder what the pump placement would do to temps. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PF1TCRV/ref=sspa_dk_...

Re: Recommend me a TV

Thanks for all the recommendations. I wasn't aware of rtings.com. I think I'm going to pass on OLED, those blacks sure are nice but many say QLED is a great way to go. Plus I can get even bigger. I'm leaning on a Samsung QLED, since they support 4K @ 120Hz. I'm spoiled by my 144Hz Acer monitor, so h...

Re: Should I Risk It?

My system has been running perfectly, I have it in a NZXT H200i so I was a little concerned about heat, but after stress testing the temps never went above 72. And I have a front mounted radiator literally like an inch from the GPU, and temps have been perfect. Now I did leave it at stock, no OC or ...

Recommend me a TV

I've been shopping for a TV and I'm ready to invest in something with the best features while getting the most bang for the buck. I'd really like OLED, and I would even be ok with spending more for it, but I'm turned off by burn in. This TV will be about 50/50 streaming and PC gaming (with me someti...

Re: Should I Risk It?

Thanks for the input, I was able to install it without any issues. DPete27 was on the money, I hooked it up to my 6900K machine and it was never hit 400 watts according to Corsair Link after 30 minutes of 3dMark. It went into my 8700K machine without any issues.

Re: Should I Risk It?

So I have a 6900K machine with XMP and CPU-Z reports 4.0GHz, and my 8700K machine with XMP reports 4.5GHz. I know XMP isn't "overclocking" but I'm just a tinkerer with computers, I really don't worry about manual overclocking. Edit: My 6900K machine is an Asus X99 Deluxe and my 8700K is an...

Re: Should I Risk It?

Guess it would have been helpful to say that I'm running XMP, so my processor is sitting at 4.5 GHz IIRC. Well I'll give it a shot then!

Should I Risk It?

Ok, so I'm trying to be super lazy and cheap. I have an EVGA Supernova 550 power supply currently powering an 8700K with a Kraken X62, MSI 1060, 16 gigs RAM, and a 512 gig Samsung SSD. I have an EVGA 1080Ti SC2 lying around. I know they recommend a 650 watt powersupply for it. Do you think I'd be sa...

Re: HP Battery

@LostCat I agree, any HDD should be only as a secondary drive in any modern computer. I'm sure a 512 GB SSD would've cost as much or less than the 1 TB HDD they stuck in the laptop. @ludi Discharging the battery didn't work. I never buy an extended warranty but HP offered a 1 year extended for $60, ...

HP Battery

I have an HP Power Laptop, it’s pretty nice with a 7700HQ, 1050 4 gig, 12 gigs of ram, etc. It came with a horribly slow 1 TB HDD, I swear it would take more than 5 minutes to boot up and get to Steam. I swapped in a 512 GB SSD and the difference is night and day. Idk if it’s a coincidence or not bi...

Re: Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

Sure does, I didn't read it that closely. Definitely a bunch of options to consider now. Thanks for the help! I'm probably going to hold off until some black Friday deals to put it all together.

Re: Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

Thanks for the tips DPete27! I do plan to have push the overclock, but it's partially aesthetics too, my old Core2Quad rig's pump died 8 years in and I replaced with a tower air cooler, which worked fine, but I like the clean look of a nice AIO or custom loop. Agree with the MOBO, I use the Asus X99...

Re: Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

I agree, I'm deciding to future proof with a 1070Ti or save money with a used 1060 (seen prices in the middle high $200 range), TBH it's not going to see too much demand as I usually play the newest games on my main rig. I like the look of the Inwin 301 as well, I actually saw a prebuilt rig at Walm...

Re: Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

Yeah great point. I have 2 EVGA 1080Ti's in my 6900K rig, but I bought it right when the Ti's launched so I didn't get hit with the mining craze. I'll probably hold off until the 20xx series is out to see what prices do.

Re: Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

Thanks MOSFET, honestly the watercooling is for aesthetics as much as just keeping a mild overclock, I have a custom loop 6900K in my office and my old Core2Quad was watercooled so it's just as much for the looks for me as it is the cooling. As far as noise goes, I doubt I'll even hear the fans as i...

Wait or go for it? Plus tips...

Hey all, my old Core2Quad system was giving me too many problems recently so I decided to let it go. I was using it as a den gaming PC for some older title, but now I'm ready to build a new one. I'm confident in my choice of parts, and I'm ready to spend the money, but do you think it's worth waitin...

Re: SSD Boot Freeze

Only recognizing it on one port really sounds like a BIOS settings issue (assuming the other ports are known to be good). I tried a fresh SATA port and cable, after installing and updating everything after my first reboot it did the same thing. Honestly there could be some issue in the BIOS somewhe...

Re: SSD Boot Freeze

Dreaded NV chipsett-anything is possible. Just looked at that board-Never seen so many electrolytic caps on a board-counted around 60, and that's not including the solids around the mosfets.................... Re: SSD Boot Freeze

Just thinking ahead in case I run into the same issue, does anyone know if I got an PCI SATA card would I be able to boot from it? My mobo controller is too old to recognize it as an SSD, and Windows kept trying to defrag instead of trim when I would optimize. I tried winsat diskformal with no luck....

Re: SSD Boot Freeze

Hey all, I recently started breathing new life into my ancient QX6700 system. I got a 240gb Sandisk 3D Ultra and loaded Windows 10 up on it and updated everything. It worked amazingly for a few days outside of Windows 10 recognizing it as a HDD. I took it out once I bought a SSD tray for it and aft...

Re: SSD Boot Freeze

I did think of that and ordered a Monoprice cable, it should be coming in with my WD. Funny thing is I did try a different SATA in my system that worked fine for my HDD's but it refused to recognize the SSD, only one SATA port/cable will recognize when I hook it up. I even reformatted then tried a d...
