Re: Video Backup - Encode - file types etc.

I just did one as a trial. Apparently some videos are in 480 and some 720, forgot to check if i or p. MKV files from 1 full dvd was over 10GB!! A quick pass through handbrake at 1080p 30fps MP4 took about 50min and reduced size to ~600MB. Quality seemed ok, pc was an old 45nm Athlonx2 @3.1ghz. I sho...

They're already low-quality, so I'd not re-encode them. A DVD is only 4.7 or 9GB, not too big.

I'd remux to MKV, for example with this:

Thanks. I was looking at that. That saves as an mkv correct? I guess after that if I wanted mp4 or avi then pass it through handbrake?

Video Backup - Encode - file types etc.

So I have a bunch of family videos on DVD from the old jvc camcorder. I would guess they are mpeg2 dvd files. Since dvd's seem to be going extinct I would like to back them up to another format, probably hdd on the NAS I guess. I'm just wondering what software will make this go quickly and keep qual...

It looks like a(mostly) stock wordpress theme to me. It's almost as if ETL and base functionality was part 1 and design was part 2. Except that part 2 never really happened. I don't want to speculate too much though. Like I said, redesigns are hard, and every project is different. I don't want to b...

The front page needs borders, a darker color option and denser information. Before I could hit the home page and see hot forum threads and latest news with out scrolling or clicking. Running a 4k monitor I have massive white borders on each side of the page, almost 1/3 border, 1/3 content, 1/3 bord...

Sadly I got rid of my consoles long ago, the nes, snes, and n64 along with all the games. Didn't play them in ages, now with kids, it would have been great to have them. :(

win10 and the 6 month service pack (update) adds lots to windows install files

you can try c:drive-right click-properties - disk clean up - when it pops up and runs, click on clean up system files and run again.

On one pc it was 7GB of space

Re: Why does nobody make decent pocket combs any more?

It used to be that you could get pocket-sized combs which were just stiff enough to be functional, but thin and flexible enough that they didn't feel like they were digging furrows in your scalp, or snap in half after a few weeks if you put them in your back pocket and sat on them. At some point in...

The 2019 Leaf/Leaf+ still lacks battery thermal management, but thankfully the 2019 Kona does have this. So for the Ottawa summers, I should be good. I know our winters will drop the battery capacity (my friend who drives a 2017 Nissan Leaf here in Ottawa says about 25% loss, but I'd like to hear w...

I have an AX370-Gaming K3. Fan control is decent. I've had issues with the Realtek ALC 1220, not sure if it's a board issue or drivers? Also BIOS controls are very poor and unintuitive and that's putting it lightly. Give back my legacy bois gui. I think I will be looking more closely at bios contro...
