Re: Enter here for a chance to win a free Just Cause 2 license

Ah, yes, 1985, when you could actually learn something about computers by subscribing to a computer magazine like Byte. And I spent 600 on a 2400baud modem, and another 600 for a monitor - a very fancy one that was not black&white, it was amber&white with reverse video. With this I was able ...

Re: As the Work Unit Crunches

Stanford has had trouble with the WU's for ATI cards for some days now. I turned OFF the option to allow >10MB WU's. I just picked up a P5733 and a P5745 and they didn't bomb. Or maybe Stanford just finally fixed it. [Oh yeah, I also cleared out the work folder, as well as other files in the folding...

Re: As the Work Unit Crunches

Sorry to hear that, Jedidiah. Hearing about such frustrations made me reluctant about -bigadv. That, plus the allure is not that strong with the VM penalty and not having a big overclock. I'd be looking at <18k ppd if I went -smp 8 and never touched my machine. [Plus there are hints that A3 bigadv m...

Re: GTX 480 vs Radeon 5870: Place your bets

I might as well chime in. Last year I'd thought I'd be disappointed if the 480 failed to beat the 5870 by 30%. I'm expecting to be disappointed, and think it will barely exceed 20%. If it were minimum frame rates, I think it would have a chance at 30%. Of course, the TR review could include an outli...

autoset affinities with dependency on processes running

I can't seem to find any affinity setting software with the feature that it periodically sets/enforces affinity with a dependency allowed based on what processes are present. Anyone know of anything? E.g., I want to be able to say FahCore_a1 => 0246 FahCore_a3 => 1234567 FahCore_11 => if(FahCore_a3,...

Re: Bragging Thread

P6013 is so messed up. There's no credit given for anything delivered past the preferred deadline. So you'd think they really care about meeting the deadline. But PPD on the P6013 sucks so bad. So which is it? Is meeting the deadline important or not? I think projects without an extension shouldn't ...

Re: Welcome to team 2630!

Yeah, -advmethods is supposed to be necessary to get A3 workload, according to installation FAQs. Probably gonna wait until the weekend is over to try it.

Re: Welcome to team 2630!

SMPv6.29, i7-920. I changed switch from "-smp" to "-smp 7". No difference. > Work type a1 not eligible for variable processors I guess this means A1 just goes after 4 threads. I'm only running A1 WU for now. I tried setting affinity for the 4 worker threads restricting them to ev...

Re: Welcome to team 2630!

Just got my new machine. Looks like I'll be getting about 2500 PPD each from a stock 920 and a 5750.

TR has best comprehensive and unbiased news coverage and articles. So I fold here. We need more attention for this forum, though, to keep up with the big teams.
