Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

My current gaming rig is based on a 3770K. My current fav game is Ghost Recon: Wildlands. While Wildlands maxes out my 3770K I still get 80 FPS @ 2560x1440 because I have a good GPU (GTX 1080). I'd focus less on the CPU and more on the GPU if gaming beyond 1920x1080: https://www.guru3d.com/articles...

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

I'm not really concerned about AMD side of the things. They will probably improve Zen a bit but I really don't expect them to go that far.. like, 5 GHz 12 Core Ryzen. What really concerns me, is the probability of 8 core coffeelakes and their probable need of 390 chipset. My previous experience with...

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

Mainboards shows their true nature under heavy loads and overclocking pressure. When you set some higher voltage and keep heavy load on CPU, those extra VRM's on the board starts to do their job. Some does well; even on extreme conditions, mobo keeps the voltage and the current as steady as possible...

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

Intel is apparently introducing Z390 and mainstream 8C/16T processors next year sometime. Also Ryzen 2000 series is expected to hit around February-ish, which may have an effect on the prices of Coffee Lake as it stands. I recently bought an I3-8350K and relatively low-cost Asrock Z370 motherboard ...

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

Have you took a look at ASRock motherboards? I built mine and dad's rigs using them and never had a problem. failed to multi-quote in previous post. I'll do in this :D ASRock is a very good value product as far as I experienced. If you push it however, it does not behave like premium mainboards. I ...

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

First things first. Budget? A few more questions will follow. Have any interest in mATX? What case are you using, or do you plan to buy a new one? Is this computer mostly gaming and web browsing? Doing any video/photo editing/encoding? Let's start there. Sorry, forgot to mention those. I have a Mid...

Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

Hello, I'm one of those guys who still uses SandyBridge based system. I'm actually lucky to have a system that lasted 5+ years and not that lucky because I couldn't afford a 2600k back then and settled with a 2500k. My sample was quite happy on 4.5k GHz with 60ish temps under load (degree celcius). ...

Re: USB port errors on my Asus P8Z68-V PRO

I have same boards GEN3 version. It's an upgrade to existing model with SATA3/USB3 added on it. What I'm gonna suggest is  ⋅ check PSU voltages with something like  HWinfo . My OCZ generated similar problems but I couldn't find it out until PSU died and killed my CPU socket with it. Servic...

Hi @Darkmage; I stay in Turkey as a soldier. I see your sent . Turkey is now complicated, lots of problem here about politics. A lot of illegal organizations are acting  . Re: Anyone Excited about Google Pixel?

So, I won't quote :P it does not seem fixable. Anyway, yes, they are 2 seperate things. I think it's not ethical and shouldn't be legal at all. I already told why in my previous post. However, I feel like, if I quote myself, I'll create a chaos of quoted posts that would turn to a forum blackhole an...

Re: Anyone Excited about Google Pixel?

I don't think it's even legal. I got a Nexus Phone with the promise I'll get everything Google's Android has to offer. I think you made some assumptions that weren't stated in the EULA. Yes, I did. My assumption is based on my point of view to pixel. Google Assistant is a cloud service, not Android...

Re: Anyone Excited about Google Pixel?

As a 6P owner, I'm very uncomfortable about Pixel. I bought a Nexus phone because I wanted to have security and OS updates in time they are relevant. Other brands may be offering security updates from Google but their unwillingness of updating OS itself is very frustrating. When some coders from int...

Re: Gun prOn!

That's pretty neat that you have a piece of family history. If you plan to shoot it, I would have a gunsmith check the headspace first. To preserve it I would disassemble it, give it a good cleaning, run an oil soaked patch down the bore, and then put a coat of paste wax on the metal. I like store ...

TOR was a dream coming true after famous RPG games knights of the old republic. After the first trailer, which was awesome too by the way, I pre-ordered (mistake) the game and participated the beta. After 3 months of casual MMO play (read, sleepless nights, zombie work days) I quit for good. I was c...

I'm not sure I can find ammunition as 7.65x53 caliber rounds are not selling everywhere. I just clean it up once a while and check the mechanism :) It's also called 7.65x53 Argentine or Belgian. Yes, here in Turkey, it's a bit big caliber for standard gun shops. With my license, I think I have a bo...

Re: Gun prOn!

Yep, it's an ottoman mauser called "osmanlı filintası". It was one of Mauser's (read Germany) "donations". In the end of 1800s, beginning of 1900s, for some political reason, ottomans couldnt buy the guns officially. Germany was an ally, so they made Mauser donate those rifles. L...

Why are we speculating and talking about "would" and "should"s ?  We have enough people in here with, sandy, ivy, haswell and skylake to get some reliable scores .Let's set some bench scenerios, run those on our pc's multiple times (3 or more ?) and compare results. We can enter ...

I still prefer to blame chrome. Firefox, Edge or IE does not have that bug. Prolly combination of Win10+Chrome+Drivers is not good. Replacing Chrome is just works. I moved to Firefox anyway. I'm proud to have backed them to make Pi happen. I'm not proud what I was able to achieve with it when it arrived :\

Still, I'm planning to get this one too. This one looks more potent and I'll prolly be able to make it work as HTPC with XMBC or maybe with more powerful distro.

Ok, SSD part is back. I had to install 7 from DVD (oh nostalgia) as my work laptop refused to respond attempts to install Windows from a USB stick. Win7 installer DVD saw the disk as 1043 GB one piece disk. I installed 7 and after 7 showed up, I installed WD drivers. It asked for reboot, did some mo...
