No one here is saying that 100% of the stuff coming out of Hollywood is good. Neither was I. I was simply stating my disbelief at what gets sold. Whatever YOU perceive the "Hollywood formula" to be isn't what we're talking about here. Quite aware of that. Thought I'd mention it in passing since it'...

Re: TR crashes my Firefox alot

So when I come into work in the morning I usually open Firefox and then go to my bookmarks toolbar folder and open all the sites (9) in tabs. I let them all load then start browsing them, and the first site is Tech Report. Frequently the site hangs and crashes Firefox. (1.0.6 - been happening since...

My point was that Asia is the hotbed of piracy because they can get away with it. The cost of (original) movies versus income plays a far bigger part. I am amazed that anyone is entertained by Hollywood formula, let alone supports it by forking out their hard-earned. The consumers brought this on t...

I'd stick to the lower-end A64 if gaming at 1280x1024 is your main concern, and spend bigger on the vidcard.

Never go 'lesser' on the vidcard or PSU (unless spending less still means 'adequate')

For the second time in four days, I've had a spontaneous shutdown after visiting a website, and when the system comes back up, all my recently visited pages and addresses in my launch bar are gone from Firefox. Anyone seeing anything like this? Know of a solution? Is it a XP or Firefox problem? Can...

Re: Upgrade now or wait for WGF 2.0?

...I read that when Windows Vista aka Longhorn comes out, for best Aero Glass performance, I will need a Windows Graphic Foundation 2.0 graphics card. Yet the problem is - even the current Geforce 7800 GTX is only WGF 1.0, not 2.0. So do you guys think I should wait till Vista? Wait for WGF 3.0 :D

I don't agree with the petition either, if you can afford a 7800 then getting a pcie mobo shouldn't be much of a problem. As we have seen through TRs benches if you dont have a top end cpu then the 7800 is not going to even come near its potential, so logically that would mean only those who are pr...

Re: NiMH chargers and batteries

Still, fully charging a set of batteries in 15 minutes is pretty damn impressive if you ask me. They get pretty hot though... I wonder if it shortens their life at all? yeh it does. FWIW, Sanyo made those Energizer cells. They are the world leaders in Ni-MH. They DO NOT make/design that charger, th...

would have been so much better if they had a plastic latch to keep things tight and secure, and when you pressed on the sides of the cable to pull it off, only then does it come off. Not by accident. I need some recommendations on a sweet, sweet LCD monitor with DVI. I've got $300 that I can spend on it and that doesn't seem to be a small budget. Dell have some very attractive monitors at attractive prices (E1703FP for $250) but no DVI. I don't need anything fancy or ultra-low-response-rate, as...
