Radeon 5850.

Consolitis keeps it relevant, but the onslaught of 4k monitors will mean its doom.

Re: Enter TR's Dear Diary contest here

Dear diary, My user's parts addiction is out of control. Their behaviour is getting more and more risky just to satisfy their insatiable desire for performance. I know this is what I was designed for; I have all the right slots in all the right places. It's just starting to feel wrong. When did our ...

Re: Discuss TR's screenshot contest

I am a completionist, and was all about to get 100% on everything in JC2, and then I just gave up. The game is massive; you don't need it all to "finish" the game but I just got discouraged. It's fun for a while, but IMO the gameplay is a little too one dimensional and yeah the infinite ch...

I know I resized my pictures on imgur, but for whatever reason some of them resized and some of them didn't. Ugh. I'm looking through the options now and I can't find the "resize" option >_<

Re: Enter here for a chance to win a GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Some shots from what I could find; I lost my shot of me scissoring with another guy in last stand in CODBO so these will have to do. I edited these down to 1600 width on Imgur but for whatever reason they aren't scaling down properly. I always try to shoot down aircraft in COD even if I have Ghost P...

Re: Win one of three Asus Xonar sound cards

Started out with cheap Altec Lansing 2.1's. They had a mid-range speaker that fired downwards straight at your desk. I thought it was a neat design, but turns out they didn't sound as good as promised. Used the Soundblast Live! for a few years, until I got sick of all the revisions they kept making ...

Re: Discuss TR's hardware photography contest

I really liked Ludi's winning shot and the "tower of CPU" shot; it was at least more interesting than the other "bare CPU" shots of... just a CPU.

Maybe not the most creative but at least artistic. I thought the winning photo was creative but sepia irks me.

Some (all?) of the Lynnefield chips do not support the new AES instruction set if you are going to be doing full disk encryption with something like TRueCrypt.

Re: Turtle Tank Advice

I have 3 red eared sliders and a fairly large tank (no idea of actual size but it's pretty big) and they are about 15 years old. I didn't fill the tank to the top either and use a Fluval canister filter; I believe mine's a 350 as well. It's a really good filter; I used to use an in-water filter but ...

Re: Enter here for a chance to win a free Just Cause 2 license

My first computer was a horrible Athlon SLOT LOAD 700MHz PC. It was "fast" (for the time, in 2000) but it was still horrible. My first BUILD was: Athlon 1.2GHz Socket A chip MSI KT266 (not the A version, which was apparently super awesome, because Via (REMEMBER THEM?) fixed their horrible ...

Could be the server's full but I was trying servers with like 16/24 people and I was still getting the message. I am not sure if servers are programmed to do that when they're full (seems like bad programming) but man it's annoying; I tried 15 servers in a row and couldn't join any. Also, is anyone ...

I don't know about TFC but QWTF had a friendly fire setting that basically made it so when you shot teammates you damaged yourself, so throwing spam around was an easy way to get yourself killed. They could have just implemented that, or left in utility grenades like the concussion/caltrop grenades,...

Was it because of uber heavies?

Instead of ad hominem attacks maybe you can point out some flaws in my actual arguments. That's more constructive. If you have nothing else to add then don't; personal attacks detract from the discussion.

The best thing about the original TF was that it was so fine tuned and balanced. The removal of grenades (not sure why that was done... they made the game a lot more fun) and some of the other changes need to be tweaked. For example, to fix the sentry issue, they should just make the sentry not bloc...

I've done that in ctf-mach2 and had 23 sentry kills in one match. lol The opponents tried Soldiers, Demos, Scouts and Spies, but the only thing that took me out was an ubered Heavy, and even then they had a hard time about it. But the uber outlasted just enough whatever healing I could do on the se...
