They started striping stuff out maybe a week ago, then the other day they reverted to the old way and I was relieved. Now they've just gone **** insane.

Re: GTX 660 SLI vs GTX 680 - Subjective Comparison

I'll run down my experience with a similar setup (Ti). Performance: I get performance that matches or exceeds a Titan's for about $520. This is a plus. Power: The power usage doesn't concern me. It's seems rather low actually. I haven't plugged in a Titan to compare the draw directly so I can't comm...

Re: GTX 660 SLI vs GTX 680 - Subjective Comparison

The power requirements aren't that bad. Most I've seen pulled from the wall on my UPS is 650w with my 660 Ti sli setup overvolted and overclocked. Actual psu demand is probably about 550w.

Unless something recently changed Dell IPS monitors shouldn't be on the table. Surprised anyone would recommend them with that atrocious AG coating. Re: Compress vs Canned Air

If you're just using it to clean out computers, how about an electric duster for $53? This, they're just computers and those things are great. If you need more focused power than that to clean them your running environment isn't safe for non-industrial rated components anyways. (some of the absolut...

Re: Compress vs Canned Air

I have the metro vac and I still end up buying canned air. The metro is good for blasting out big bits of dust in a very dusty case, but even with the detailing attachment it can't focus enough force to blow off that fine dust you get on the back of cards and on fan blades in filtered cases. A compr...

So if it's more power efficient, but super leaky, then we could get another huge power efficiency boost by fixing the leaks? Presumably in haswell.

You don't have to switch to IDE mode. That's from the old instructions. All I had to do on my P8P67 was disable the sata 3 controllers in the bios and it found my drive. Didn't even have to move the sata port it was in (I guess the ports default to 2.0 when 3.0 is disabled???) Lastly, how on earth c...

Re: New to PC's -- Friend wants to build me a "Beast" machin

Don't just recommend Asus boards without having used them. The bottom dollar Asus boards have severally crippled UEFI options. They want you to overclock from the OS. On a lower price range only buy Biostar and Asrock. They don't artificially segregate their products like Asus/MSI/Gigabyte. That Asr...

Re: New to PC's -- Friend wants to build me a "Beast" machin

I hit 2.7 GB vram usage on my 580 with skyrim mods, 1.7 GB just with Crysis 2 in DX11 with the texture pack. The 560 Ti will not choke before being able to use that. No way is 750w too much. Re: USB Flash Drives = POS Trash Drives

If it is port fatigue I'd get a decent extender and plug it into the back ports. The extender will protect the MB plugs from wear and when it wears out you can just get another cable. This will also eliminate the chance that anything is wrong with the front panel ports. As for USB drives themselves ...

Depending on what customizations you wanted a modder could possibly do them to a preexisting board. The hard part is if anything involves bios editing. There's not many around who can edit a modern motherboard bios. Use to be more. If you can spend a lot you may be able to get a company to send you ...

It's hard to blame them for this. You can argue they're not professionals, but the people that run the bomb range were there every step of the way. I don't understand how this bomb range even exists. Why on earth would they be permitted to build something like that so close to a neighborhood?

When it works it's not so bad actually. Pleasantly easy even. The problem lies in the materials and precision. It fatigues and breaks easily which is where you run into issues. Try applying the same cooler a few times and it will get progressively harder. I wonder how much better it would be if it w...

Microsoft doesn't fix these user experience bugs in between OS release cycles. So it will resist 80% of a shock? I'm coming at that from every angle I can think of and it's just not making sense. It will only take 80% damage? The only qualifier for shock resistance is if it continues to operate after said shock. It's an either or thing. You can't "80%" it.
