Re: 1080 ti upgrade

You will be massively bottlenecked by your 2600k with a 1080ti.

I had an i7 3820 (basically 2600k on X79 platform) and it couldn't keep up with the 1080, huge performance dips in games like BF1.

+1 to CPU upgrade before dropping money on a new GPU.

Re: Headphone market for 2018: Hot mess

Yeah, it's really annoying. I got a hot deal on a Pixel 2 and bought it with much haste, temporarily forgetting the lack of 3.5mm jack on the phone.

The dongle struggle is real.

Re: Why do USB connectors (almost) never fit well?

It does seem that, if the USB port is in a location where I can't see it clearly (e.g. back of a computer case), I may spend a minute flipping the male connector over and over several times trying to get it to insert correctly (no jokes, please). Of course, that could be attributable to my own pers...

As a new 8700k user, I'm hoping the ~0% change in gaming performance in linux is also the case in windows.

Otherwise, I'mma gonna be sad :(

Re: Sorry Canucks, looks like NCIX is going bankrupt

I had a "backordered" 8700k ordered from NCIX. I saw Newegg had stock and ordered one from them, and requested they cancel my order and issue me a refund. NCIX canceled my order on the 20th of November, and I still haven't seen a penny. Those broke-ass mofos stole $513.12 from me and now I...

Drink lots of water. Water is the best thing you can drink. Staying well hydrated will help you to burn fat and benefit your metabolism. You'll lose some weight by cutting out soda, be strong, my dude! Your body will thank you for it. If you miss the bubbles, there's always Perrier or club soda. Che...

Re: Kaby Lake 7700K vs Sandy Bridge 2600K @[H]

The [H] article is basically saying that all things being equal, a 6 year old 4c/8t CPU @ 4.5Ghz from Intel is still pretty good for most gaming and everyday use, and is not yet in need of replacement, especially if there are other components that need to be upgraded first. (display, SSD, video car...

Re: Bottle-necking my aging beast

Try 4.5-4.6 GHz, squeeze every ounce of performance out of your CPU before you drop money on a new mobo, cpu, and RAM. I'm in the same boat as you, 4.4 GHz on my i7 3820 was not cutting it in BF1. I have it up to 4.5 GHz stable, but would like to nail down 4.625 GHz for more headroom. It felt notice...

AMD's marketing should have been fired years ago. All they do is overhyhpe and leave people disappointed when their products actually launch.

That's fine and dandy, but from what I've read, actual clockspeeds on Zen ES are rather low. They'll need to match Intel's clocks if they're to have competitive performance.

I would suggest designing the feature to be enabled / disabled remotely without the need for a client update.

Disable it during app review and enable it after it is released.

Re: Disappointed with GTX 1070 Performance, Possible throttling issue?

From my experience on a similar processor (i5 750 Quad Core), you need to overclock your CPU to be able to properly feed a modern enthusiast GPU. I was able to overclock the i5 750 from 2.66 to 4.0 GHz on an EVGA P55 FTW, voltage is a bit high (1.38) but it is super stable and gave my old PC some mo...

Re: Upgrade or build from scratch.

Leave your system as-is but upgrade your GPU. If you find you are actually hitting 8gb RAM usage and swapping to disk often, upgrade to 16gb. Sandy Bridge still has a couple of good years left before you need to upgrade. Overclock to 4-4.5 GHz if you're unable to hit high GPU usage in gaming due to ...

In Stock at NCIX in Canada for $909 CAD, and I'm sure newegg and other shops have it as well. However, you would be a fool to buy a Founder's Edition when vastly superior custom cards with more power inputs and superior cooling will be available for LESS very shortly. http://search.ncix.com/search/?...

Less power consumption = slower RPM fans = less noise. Not true, noise levels are more dependent on the cooling solution being used and not necessarily the power consumption. My old Geforce 4 4600 and GTX-275 for example are far louder than the Titan's for example despite being just a fraction of t...

Apparently there is a native Kodi app for the Steam link. Desktop gaming PC + Steam Link for gaming, NAS + Steam Link for multimedia is the way I see myself going over the next year. I have a Chromebox as HTPC/Steam 'link' with a 5TB USB3 external HDD. It doesn't do RAID or anything and yes you can...
