Re: World Of Warcraft

My account is deleted. I almost resubbed to play Classic but I can't in good conscience with what Blizzard did this week. How is your account deleted, By your own hand? If I was to try the new classic server. I suppose we must start completely over? Or could we use our existing alts but starting fr...

And fragmentation doesn't cause system crashes, so that part is pure BS. Probably not anymore, but it could indeed happen in Win9x. Don't ask me how. There was some system code that depended on a critical file being in contiguous blocks otherwise it would result in an exception? This was once used ...

With AMD at $46 and Intel at $59; my gut feeling is that Intel is a buy and AMD is a hold. I hope Intel manages to pull something out of its hat for this year. That said, I'd still buy AMD for a build :D .

The chat system is OK. I had a damaged item delivered. After it was denied return or replacement by the website; the chat system was offered. Somewhere along there, the chat became a human who offered to call and resolve the issue. I got the $364 item replaced.

Watch your credit statement and then call the card to have the charge denied. None of the subscription links actually produce results.

I very often follow the comments thread at Ars Technica. I find those comments to be entertaining and I like the thread format. I propose Ars Technica be i...

Bit of an update for whoever's still around: After putting down roughly 150 posts on TechPowerUp, I'm almost totally soured on the site (or the forums at least). Compared to the TR of yore, the majority of users are significantly less knowledgable, a bit daft, and lacking in language skills. That's...

Re: PC Won't Start - Replaced P/S - What's next?

You can pick up a cheap PSU Tester (~$15) and see if the old PSU was bad. Typically these cheap ttesters use a resistor and can only stand PS power for a couple minutes but take the opportunity to check the various voltages. If the old PSU is bad or any voltage is bad, there is a slight chance that ...

Games sure seem to be optimized for an intel architecture. Guess we will not have any more deep hardware dives. But my best guess is that Intel has got better branch prediction and lower latency in the cache closest to the cores. That seems to be what games really want.

My wife insisted we put the cables in bins (in sandwich bags and gallon bags) and stack them. It actually takes very...
