Re: difference between core i3 and core i5 Ivy Bridge

cant speak to the pcie difference, but you got a dual core instead of a quad core. that's the chief difference.

dual core with HT vs quad core without

still 4 threads, but the i5 should have significantly better performance i think.

Re: Restore Windows install after hard drive breaks?

It's a Dell Laptop - that's what I mean by OEM License. It came preinstalled on the computer.

How would I go about making and restoring an image of the drive?

Thanks :D

Outlook 2010 Problem

There's a guy in my office who's having trouble with Outlook, and I can't figure out what it is. When he clicks to open an email, sometimes it'll close randomly, and when he clicks on the buttons that go to the next/previous emails at the top, sometimes it'll close. What could it be? I've just clean...

Intel probably bought him a combo meal from Carl's Jr for that line. Depending on what it is, I'm not sure I blame him.

The CPU is old, so a BIOS update shouldn't really do anything, not that Gigabyte has been bothered to release one. Ehh...? What version of the BIOS are you currently running? Their site lists 5 different BIOS versions (designated F1-F5), the last of which was released in September. http://www.gigab...

It'd be undervolted. There's no way in hell I'd run an X6 OC'd in an SFF case. I've been to FrostyTech already, a ton, but their top low-profilers are all from '08 it seems.

Thanks for the reply.

It looks like they had you wait 45 days that way you couldn't get any buyer protection or whatever.

I'm done with Fleabay. I never liked them to begin with, and this is shamefully pathetic.

Re: Crosshair IV Formula FSB OC

You need to increase the PLL voltage. Stock is 2.6v, take it to 2.66v and see if that helps. I also set the HT voltage to 1.25v. I haven't spent the time to isolate it to solely the PLL voltage, but that is a big part of it.

Your opinion? Core i3? Sandy Bridge?

Hi, I am looking to jump over to the Intel camp. My budget isn't big, so I'd be stuck with a Core i3 or i5, for now, which is fine by me. Which motherboard do you reckon is the best for LGA1156 overclocking that isn't going to break the budget? I don't want to spend more than $130 or so for a board,...

Re: Coolermaster V8 or Corsair H50?

You could try the Thermaltake Frio - that's a good one. So are: Prolimatech Megahalems, TRUE, Noctua NH-D14.

For RAM, I'd say Mushkin. They've got some beastly kits out now, and I've had fantastic luck with mine. Corsair and OCZ are also good choices.
