I was thinking about buying a component a month for four months. Please don't do this. There aren't a lot of durable goods that depreciate or become obsolete faster than new PC components that you've purchased but not yet installed. The only way it potentially makes sense to do it piecemeal like th...

Honestly that is a processor that I'd likely get a new board for.

Is the gaming 5 even going to be able to handle an overclocked 3950x? Without an actual review it's hard to say how much power it's going to consume. The good news is you have until September, since your looking at the 16 core.

Considering I was expecting it at around 800 the pricing seems fine. Not much else to say about that.

Alright, I may as well conclude this thread and put a bow on it. I went out and acquired a Noctua NF-F12 fan and strapped that onto the be quiet! Dark Rock 4, moving the default SilentWings 3 fan to the other side to push air to the case's vent fan. That definitely helped - Cinebench performance ju...

I don't have much experience with Afterburner or other 3rd party apps for tweaking Nvidia GPUs, but I do like AMD's built-in WattMan utility that runs within the driver already. I know the default Afterburner is simply a voltage/frequency offset [from max speed assumedly], whereas WattMan directly ...

I think overall this is lame. As long as people who get refunded, actually get refunded I'm eye roll lame category. I will say 30 day refund only on a possible 4 week refund, is a bit nerve racking.

What is the cpu clocked at while it's running this. 4715, is probably a decent all core speed.

Re: Cinebench R20 is out. Officially banned from AMD demos

What are the clock speeds with stock, in your case? (like what is the average all core speed) Stock these days are kind of annoying. 4,349.0 MHz single core (turbo), and 3,949.1 MHz all-core. Maximum CPU temperature (while running Cinebench R20) is 68.5C (Tdie, without the +10C offset), with a be q...

intel xeon 1505mv6 (3.6 all core boost) 1941
Intel 7820x @ 4.6 4700
Intel 7740x @ 4.5 (stock) 2367

for those who care

Does it actually use avx? During the run it was still running at full speed. it didn't show an offset clock.

Prices have gone down enough that I would go with 16 gb ram even if budget was somewhat of a concern. Here is an article that covers parts of this. It's not complete, but it does give you an idea. It does matter in some games.

I did some more testing. In the standard 72-144 (I think) it stopped flickering in the previous games.

Gtx 1080ti, c27hg70

Apparently the normal freesync range is 120-144..... Good thing I was in that exact range... That's not a very useful range though.

It also seems to work with hdr (same flickering in hdr). I'm going to try it in standard freesync range rather...

I don't care too much about the G-Sync approval list as long as they implement the spec properly and don't remove the manual toggle sometime down the line (though that's unlikely given the kickback they'd probably experience). Maybe. But I'm not convinced, not while Jensen Huang is going around say...

Maybe something along these lines could do the trick, but the C/W numbers just aren't very good, despite that being all-copper and pricey (hinting at why passive single-slot cards don't exist). That one might just about do it for HTPC use if you ensure good ambient airflow (assuming the RAM can be ...
