Re: nVidia FreeSync support is coming?

I did some more testing. In the standard 72-144 (I think) it stopped flickering in the previous games.

Gtx 1080ti, c27hg70

Apparently the normal freesync range is 120-144..... Good thing I was in that exact range... That's not a very useful range though.

Re: nVidia FreeSync support is coming?

Here's my experience with my c27hg70. I have flickering in at least one of the games I play. This happens particularly when I move the mouse over menu items. It does however remove tearing. It also seems to work with hdr (same flickering in hdr). I'm going to try it in standard freesync range rather...

Re: nVidia FreeSync support is coming?

I don't care too much about the G-Sync approval list as long as they implement the spec properly and don't remove the manual toggle sometime down the line (though that's unlikely given the kickback they'd probably experience). Maybe. But I'm not convinced, not while Jensen Huang is going around say...

Re: Ryzen/Radeon 3000

RX 3080? Are you F-ing kidding me? First they ripped off Intel's numbering scheme, now they're doing it on the graphics side too. If this happens, I'll have lost some respect for AMD. Numbering schemes go back and fourth. NVidia did exactly the same thing when AMD's Radeon 9700 Pro was dominant, sw...

I will without a doubt get the game, it's just a matter of when. While rebirth wasn't my favorite I enjoyed it, but boy was it broke on release.

As for star citizens, maybe it will be ready in a couple years for me to buy.

Re: New HTPC GPU - GT1030 - but where are they?

Maybe something along these lines could do the trick, but the C/W numbers just aren't very good, despite that being all-copper and pricey (hinting at why passive single-slot cards don't exist). That one might just about do it for HTPC use if you ensure good ambient airflow (assuming the RAM can be ...

I was surprised to find windows 2003 running in a major role as well. (The 2000 server seems to be there as a just-in-case...) The previous guy was a real SOB. Lied through his teeth, didn't follow up, didn't get things done, basically didn't do his job, and actually made things worse. The final th...

That's what I thought, but then I got a gtx 1080ti and kept using my freesync monitor. It doesn't really bother me. Of course my frames literally doubled so you know. (R9 fury to gtx 1080ti).

Quadro p600/p620 is also another option. It also supports displayport 1.4. Also the Quadro is somewhat reasonably priced. https://www.pny.com/nvidia-quadro-p620 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133749&nm_mc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC-_-pla-_-Video+Cards...

Re: GTX 1060 No Display

It's got to seat properly, and your motherboard BIOS probably needs an update to understand newer GPUs. I've had to do this on several boards from various vendors from the H87/H97 using newer 10-series geforce cards and RX-400+ series. The card was fine, The board was fine, The BIOS was old. Yea, I...

I haven't even joined the X299 club, not even at work - the shoddy VRM horror stories and vastly superior performance/Watt of the Zen platform for our specific needs means Intel don't even get looked at. What if just the circulation tubes through the rad are copper and the rad fins are still aluminum? Then it's essentially the same as any air cooler with heatpipes. Is it rare to see such a rad? Fins can be aluminum as long as the flat tubes are copper. Basically as long as the water doesn't touch t...

Re: Video card prices

Prices have been a slow decline for about 2 weeks. The used market is also on a slow decline. Some used models are in a slightly faster decline like the gtx 1070ti. I assume it's because many miners projected to never hit ROI with them.

Yep, I'm aware of how RAM latencies work (albeit, a bit rusty), very good overview explanation of them. These were specs I actually cared about too much back in the day. I should have mentioned that I would be using 3200 regardless, no plans on using a slower frequency and hoping tghter timings wil...

DDR4-3000 CAS 15 for $165 Not sure where you find out if RAM is Samsung B Die or not. (It's so dumb that's a requirement for higher clocked RAM on Ryzen) These are not Samsung B's. These are probably Hynix. Easiest way to get B's is to get 3000c14 or 3200c14. Also going to 3600 or faster pretty muc...
