I have the TN-based ROG Swift paired with an old Dell 2005FPW (1680x1050), have not experienced any issues with G-Sync. Windows 8.1, GTX 980, most recent driver, Dell on a DVI port (I think).

Re: xbox 360 4GB version

I tried a 32GB flash drive, and was able to install demos & move save data to it. Some games (Destiny, for example) will not work with a flash drive, instead require an HDD (perhaps literally, don't know if Destiny works with an SSD).

Re: Whats the most recent dumb thing you did to your PC?

Ever since I cancelled the automatic "We'll install Windows 10 for you!" prompt, I've been having random reboots & silently failing services on my machine. I think it's trying to get me to upgrade to get away from the issues.

Re: Using the Steam Controller.

I played a number of different games to try and get a sense of how the SC works. So far I really like it, but as @whm1974 said, expect to spend some time tweaking your configuration. The real beauty of the SC is how practically every button can be changed / adjusted, and that's something that will t...

I just ordered a Steam Controller from Amazon last night, it should be here on Tuesday. Lately I've been playing Tomb Raider (2013), Haunt the House, Borderlands, Minecraft Story Mode, Remember Me, Grim Fandango Remastered, and Life is Strange, so I'll be using those as test cases.

@Terra: This is what I found which seems similar to what you're describing, However, it says this is limited to computers and not available on the mobile app. Are you suggesting only the initial setup needs to be done on a computer? Also, if I share my calendar with her, can she add/edit events fro...

Re: Shareable Calendar on Android

If your wife shares her Google calendar with you, with "make and edit" permissions, you'll then need to go into the settings of your Calendar app and start syncing that calendar. Then the events will show up and you can pick that calendar from a list when creating events.

I've moved my wife and I to Republic Wireless from AT&T. There's the up-front cost of purchasing the phones, but with their data refund package our $65/mo service was only about $36 after the credit. We were paying about $125 for just the two of us on a family shared plan.

Re: I just bought a refurb laptop...

I had considered a refurb Core 2 era Thinkpad (or similar), but every listing I looked at had something-or-other that made me reconsider. As my desktop stays around 800 MHz for browsing, I'm hoping the 1.33 GHz (1.83 burst) will be sufficient. The single channel memory controller is rather :-?

She totally doesn't think this way, which is why I got her a "temporary replacement" anyway. She'll be mad that I spent the money on her, but I think/hope in time she'll see a big difference in usability & performance.

If nothing else, this-years bottom-of-the-barrel hardware should out-perform 2 year old bottom-of-the-barrel hardware :) Even so, I would have spent ~300 something on a notebook w/ Pentium N3540 and 4GB of memory. Did your GF set a budget? Basically $0 :-? When she feels we can afford it, I'm going...

Yeah, sorry, I was talking about the Chromebook (Samsung Exynos 5 Dual). I think that one's an ARM-based chip. I do agree on the Z3735F being a tablet processor.

Neweggflash has the Asus X205TA for $129.99 and my wife's Chromebook is looking a little long in the tooth, so I snapped one up. As we all know, buying hardware for our significant others always* ends badly; I'm looking for opinions on percent chance of failure + time before failure :D * not always

Check your power profile, you could be set to something like "maximum battery" instead of "maximum performance".

I'm playing DXHR as well, but I've not yet gone back to Detroit, but I can say the six-ten hours I've played so far have mostly stayed at 144fps. I did finish "the Vanishing of Ethan Carter", and that would fluctuate between 70-144fps, depending on the scene. If I began running through the...

Do you have Triple Buffering enabled? I had all kinds of input lag when TB was off & Vsnyc was on. I just enabled Vsync & Triple Buffering in the driver control panel, and disabled vsync in-game, and saw no problems in the, well, 5 or 6 games I'd been playing at the time.

I've read in a couple places (Ars, Anand, possibly here) that the first cards with HBM (Fiji) would be limited to 4GB of VRAM. WCCF's reporting that the 390/390x will be available in 8GB flavors, which would rule out Fiji as the GPU. AFAIC, it's all hearsay and speculation.

They have some of those at our fancy new office, and I have to say, they're only for decoration. They cast almost no light at all, and are more likely to cast shadows from the florescents set higher up against the ceiling. And from where I sit, I can see 2 of the 10 are burnt out already (maaaybe 4-...
