Would it be possible to rebuild the kernel with older versions of the driver that do not request firmware images? I have a system that works fine with the 2.6.28.2 kernel (bnx2 1.8.1), but if I move to the latest kernel (2.6.30.1), the bnx2 driver requests the firmware, fails and leaves no network. ...
