So your saying that test device I mentioned earlier wouldn't be of much use?

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

Why do people quote whole posts when they are replying to something small? It so defeats the purpose of quoting. "The issue is that when I turn it on, for the first 10 seconds the fans run at bare minimum and the computer does not boot. " That is all one sentence BTW! Now can we please get...

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

Rogue, I never said it wouldn't boot at all, I said for 10 seconds turning it on, it doesn't boot. The first sentence of yours doesn't fit with the second. @suspenders I was not talking about the PSU fan, I was talking about the CPU fan and case fans, (the case fans only applying the first time) The...

Well it is from their own website too, so obviously meant for their products.

So got any suggestions for testing this issue then?

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

@cheesyking
I covered that in the post you quoted in your post, if I had another machine to put this in, I would have spare parts compatible with it, I already said I didn't, and no I don't know anyone who does.

@JBI
What about what I said about the paperclip test? Still hold it as inconclusive?

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

I half anticipated that question, and should have cut it off at the pass. No, I don't have any other parts to test things with. All my other PC parts are many generations older to the point of being incompatible. To buy a part just to test another seems a silly waste of money. I did try the first ti...

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

The first one was tested in case (didn't figure there could be anything possibly wrong with such high grade parts) and of course properly installed with standoffs etc., then tested out of it too. That foam that comes with the motherboard is anti-static. That might be what's killing your boards. Anti...

Re: Failure with three Seasonic X650's

No I do not have a spare PSU that will work with this level of MoBo. The test was suggested by seasonic and I was given a link to their own webpage for instructions for this test http://seasonicusa.com/RMABeta/JumpStart/JS.pdf and was told by seasonic with the first PSU that if that test failed, it ...

Failure with three Seasonic X650's

These are suppose to be great PSUs. The issue is that when I turn it on, for the first 10 seconds the CPU and any system fans run at bare minimum and the computer does not boot. I did the paper clip test. (yes I quadruple checked to make sure I had the right spots) the fan rotates just a bit for a c...

Re: It only gets better when used.

But its new price is $50, so even a $100 used would be really weird. (and no way is it worth a $100, even new) Plus I have seen a minor item listed for $10,000 and change or so. Maybe its a currency thing, like how some currencies are really inflated FWIW shipping rates in Amazon Marketplace normall...

Something funny I found I thought I'd share.

Good deal when new? Check out the value you get when its used! (did god use this mouse or something?)

Re: Buy or wait for radeon 69xx to come out?

I don't think I will go geforce with current selections. Especially not anything of the 4xx series, since comparably priced and performance radeon cards are simply notably more efficient. Here is one crucial thing to the decision, is there anything not related to raw performance in the 6xxx or 69xx ...

OK its out, you guys think it's worth spending another $75-$80 for a 6950 over the 5870, or yet another $70 for the 6970?

Re: Buy or wait for radeon 69xx to come out?

It appears I still have a chance, I am told if I refuse delivery on the radeon 5870, I will get a full refund. I just hope I can see what the radeon 69xx has to offer before it arrives.

Have any of you heard if the 6950/6970 will be affordable?

I have done plenty of research on stuff I asked about before posting, that and comments about how wild and crazy posts are supposedly getting are not needed or at all useful. Nothing wrong with the way I'm speaking to anyone, to say I speak with entitlement is BS. I've been reading conflicting repor...

Re: Power Supply Rqmts

Not sure about what exactly you need for a power supply, but you might try a Seasonic x650 or something along those lines. A nicely efficient PSU might eventually pay part of its cost back with electricity savings for you. As far as the memory goes, I am told you need to really match memory precisel...

Re: Build in progress, could use some information and advice

If RAM in win7 64bit is used to such a great extent anyway, why should it matter much what speed the hard drive is? @FuturePastNow Ah thanks, such a simple solution, and much cheaper too.(not that the card was very expensive) Though having to stretch out a cable across to the back of the case would ...

Re: Build in progress, could use some information and advice

If say win7 64bit, uses RAM instead of the hard drive for all its temporary data needs, so that the hard drive doesn't even get used for virtual RAM or browser cache if you have enough ram (you are saying that, right?) then why does it even matter what speed my hard drive is for the most part? BTW, ...

Re: Build in progress, could use some information and advice

This is the first time that I hear about this. Where did you read that from? I called corsair technical support and asked them why that last number was bigger for their memory then their competitions, this is what I was told. I was told the reason the competition uses 24 is to sound quicker. This a...

Re: Build in progress, could use some information and advice

Flip, MoBo, CPU, and HDD have already been purchased. A month away with so many unknowns was just to much to wait, especially in the face of black friday pricing that saved me $70 off the bunch, and my need for a new computer. Notice that I said already purchased, all the stuff in green has been pur...

Why are you trying not to buy it? Just absolutely have no use for more PSU for a real long time or something, donuts?

This was out of stock till just recently (came in on the 9th, I was worried I might end up having to wait awhile.)

Re: SeaSonic X650- a awesome deal for a super efficient PSU

The only other PSU I could find that matches this PSUs quality level while being a different creature, is the Enermax Modu87+, which can be got for like $200 with a $25 mail in rebate at newegg. Reviews at the previously mentioned review site say its more efficient at the low end of the power use sp...

Re: Buy or wait for radeon 69xx to come out?

Well, at least one review I read said they have the same idle power consumption. The physical length is also a environmental issue. A longer card means more material used. I'd like to have gotten a fanless power color go!green card, but the latest they have is a radeon 5750, and the price hasn't bud...

SeaSonic X650- a awesome deal for a super efficient PSU

All the reviews for this product suggest its about one of the best PSU's you can get. Super efficient at low loads and high ones. Super quiet, its fan doesn't even kick in till a very high load is reached and then its barely audible. And its just as efficient at higher more likely case temperatures ...

Re: Buy or wait for radeon 69xx to come out?

Well as a environmentalist, its more the electricity used that concerns me, more electricity used to power the card, and more electricity used to cool the card and the case because of the card. At least I got a awesome deal on a super efficient PSU. You say your 5770 runs a bit hot, but I understand...

Re: Build in progress, could use some information and advice

Corsair has some memory timing 9-9-9-27, I was told thats actually better, the last number should be the total of the first three, but then corsair also has some ram that is timed 9-9-9-24, so I don't know what to think. I hear if I want 16gb, I should get a whole 4 set, rather then two identical 2 ...

Re: Buy or wait for radeon 69xx to come out?

Well, now having had time to think about it, relieved of the time pressure, I think waiting or the 6870 would have been better. The power efficiency and heat does matter to me, and the 6870s smaller by comparison footprint would give me more options regarding the case. Shopping for a good case is di...

Well, its too late for me. After waiting till the very last moment to decide and not hearing any suggestions from here, I decided to get it. I figured it was $15-$20 cheaper then the 6870 with MiR yet a bit faster (how much faster is hard to tell from reviews) and I figured the upcoming card would c...
