Re: New GPU but No multi-monitor. :-(

You can throw away the Nvidia card or you can listen to what we are telling you. The onboard graphics are disabling because they are AMD and the discrete card is Nvidia. It might be possible to force it on, maybe not, that's up to your particular motherboard, not my issue. I believe that this sums ...

Re: Pointless rant about optical drive bays in cases...

There are so many ITX cases out now that have two expansion slots, you'd think motherboard manufacturers would have caught on to the added versatility it would give to make motherboards that could have two expansion cards fitted. The two slots on the case are for a dual height graphics card. I don'...

Re: Pointless rant about optical drive bays in cases...

I know exactly what you mean. I did NOT want a 5.25 device bay in my new build since I have not used one in years. I went with the Fractal Design Node 304 and could not be happier for what I got. Cable management is a nightmare/impossible but other than that it was a dream for a new build. Along wit...

Re: Legality - Software Licenses Pirated

Did anyone think of maybe they DO have the proper licenses, but just imaged the entire laptop? It may not be likely, but its a possibility. ^This. I used to run an education center where we taught classes such as Quickbooks, A+, and Office classes. If you looked on all of the classroom computers al...

Re: Can't reformat in windows 7?

You cant reformat from within Windows. I am assuming that you are trying to do a clean install in which case you will have to boot from the CD or create a bootable USB drive to load windows. The reason you are getting a disk busy is you are trying to format over the files that you are currently usin...

Re: Help with Netgear WNR3500

Sounds to me like the firewall on the router may be hosed. I think that you should start with a fresh router by restoring the factory defaults like you said. However, I think an even better idea is to install a third party firmware such as dd-wrt. This will get you all the features on your consumer ...

Re: .COM, .CO, or .NET Does it matter?

Well, when they started registering .co I just thought that it was a global TLD like .com. Looking it up it is recognized as a global tld but I did not know that it is acctually Columbias tld. With that being said I think that I will register them both and redirect one to whichever one I want to use.

.COM, .CO, or .NET Does it matter?

Looking at starting a small local business but the domain that I am really wanting is only available in .CO or .NET. I can change it and make it a more local (tied to the area) and get a .COM. My main question is does it really matter anymore if you have a .COM or not?

Thoughts or ideas?

Re: HELP!...I hate outlook

I'm afraid that Outlook sucks hardcore as an IMAP client. This is what I am finding out the hard way. We have used GoDaddy email since I have worked here and it has been set up for years. The problem is 1) it is slow to send and receive 2) it blocks some emails from some of my vendors with no expla...

Re: HELP!...I hate outlook

Thanks for the reply Fox. I did do an export of the old .pst and then an import when I set up the mail account. This put all of my mail into the new imap account just fine. After a little more digging I found out that when you have an imap account in Outlook it does not go to the normal "person...

I am transitioning the company I work for off of GoDaddy email and to another provider. All of the accounts were set up for pop3 and now they will be imap. When I try to add the new account in outlook it does not go into the "personal folders" but into another pst with the account name on ...

I believe that is to let you power a fan with a normal molex connector. Normally I see those on fans that have LEDs which I don't know if the case has.

Re: setting a small LAN PARTy

With the two games that you mentioned you really don't have to have any settings done as neither of them have Lan support. Basically what you will be doing is playing with the group that you have on online servers. Alot of the current games have lost lan support and only support online multiplayer.

Check out VMware and project Octopus. Basically dropbox hosted on your own server. Not sure of the cost but I for one will definitely be testing it out when it arrives.

Finishing MDF for a desktop

I am getting back into the side home business so I need to get another desk. I have looked for one at the normal places but it seems they are a little out of my price range. I was thinking of just a basic 2x4 structure with a MDF top since it would be easy and relatively cheap. Now what I am looking...

There are but the last time I looked they caused lag when watching graphical items such as videos and the like. Also the monitoring computer only polls the screen every few seconds.

Re: Question of Charging Rates

1. Charge a flat-rate - $20 or $25 per machine with infections - offer it free of charge if you can't do it because its too involved or stuff might be lost. As you get some cash, get an external enclosure so you can deep dive the stuff. While the other points are good I don't see charging $20-$25 a...

On the business side: this sounds like one of the ways that novice business owners come up with to blow $10k here, $15k there on fluff that gives little or no value-add to the core business model, at a time when their business is still in a very precarious financial position. Suggest proceeding cau...

Your boss won't like to hear this but if the paper-based system works and, most importantly, it's not creating otherwise-billable down time, the first cent spent on changing the system will be lost. Currently it is not creating down time except for multiple people trying to schedule at once and cro...

The company I work for is currently trying to take the scheduling from a piece of paper like it has been for years and move it to a digital scheduling system. Looking for a new laptop since I got rid of my old one and I think I have it narrowed down to two of them. 1. Samsung Series 3 12.5 inch 2. Acer TimelineX 13.3 inch Both of them have an i5, 4gb of ram, and 500gb HDD. All of the other connections are pretty similar as well with the exception the Acer...

Test bandwidth between two computers?

I have a HTPC and a Windows Home Server and recently when streaming videos it has started to stutter. I have a WRT600N and the HTPC is the only device on the 5Ghz band and the server is hardwired into the router. Anyway to test this or speed it up.

Possibly go with a Powerline networking kit.

Help me find a new Laptop!

Well, seems like I will be in the market for a new laptop soon. I am getting tired of lugging mine around and it is really more power than I need. Isn't there a program that will rebuild/reset the TCP/IP Stack in XP. It has been years since I used it but I do believe that there was a utility to do this.

It might be something to checkout before a wipe and reinstall at least.

In fact, I think that printer still has the same toner cartridge from when I bought it (I really don't print that ...
