Re: nVidia FreeSync support is coming?

Gtx 1080ti, c27hg70 Apparently the normal freesync range is 120-144..... Good thing I was in that exact range... That's not a very useful range though. Have you flashed the latest firmware for your Samsung C27HG70? I found that to be a pretty easy process once I found an old small USB drive. It may...

It's still a violation of Rule 10. Mosfet has expressed the reason that Rule 10 exists.

Re: New build with old GPU

Unless you need to use a specific proprietary NVidia application, it is very difficult to recommend a $170 GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB when you can get an AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB card for $110, a Radeon RX 570 4GB for $145 or a Radeon RX 580 8GB for $190.

Re: DisplayPort problems

Your new MSI Optix MAG241C monitor has a 144 Hz refresh rate. Some inexpensive DisplayPort to HDMI 1.2a active adapters can handle only up to 1920x1200 @60Hz. Your graphics card's HDMI output is version 2.0b, which supports 3840x2160 @60Hz or 1920x1080 @240Hz.

Re: Half FPS vs Gaming Site's I7 4790 with GTX 1070 WHY?

Until people buy AMD cards again in enough numbers to worry NVIDIA, exhorbitant pricing is not going to change. Of these, only the Radeon RX Vega56 & Vega64 8GB cards outperform the OP's $335 to $390 GeForce GTX 1070 8GB, but in the mid-range a $155AR Radeon RX 570 8GB card is a much better dea...

The biggest problem with GeForce RTX is the price. If it cost half as much, no-one would be complaining about its performance in currently available games.
$500 to $630 GeForce RTX 2070 8GB
$700 to $900 GeForce RTX 2080 8GB
$1330 to $1405 GeForce RTX 2080Ti 11GB
$2500 Titan RTX 24GB

https://ark.intel.com/products/codename/97787/Coffee-Lake#@desktop For everyday lightly-threaded use, your processor will be running at close to its maximum turbo boost frequency. For that reason, the $245 Core i5-9600K may be worth considering, since it will run extremely fast when lightly loaded. ...

Re: Nonfunctional desktop *sigh*

The fact that the PSU works with the old components still makes me lean towards a motherboard problem, but if you're looking for a good quality power supply, how about the $120 -20MIR SeaSonic Focus Plus Platinum SSR-850PX? It's rated for up to 840 watts (70 amperes) on the +12V line.

Re: Nonfunctional desktop *sigh*

I’d say that the symptoms point to either the motherboard or the power supply, especially since this configuration was working successfully for a few weeks. Since the PSU works with the old components, that puts the strongest suspicion on the motherboard.

I'll support the idea of trying a good quality DisplayPort cable.

Have you tried one of the other DisplayPort outputs on your graphics card?

Have you looked at the graphics card's temperature and fan speed trends in Wattman?
