Re: New futureproof C2Q rig: Please advise!

I fnally made a jump from C2Q6600 -> Ryzen 2700X this weekend. The difference is more than noticeable of course. :D :D :D and I do enjoy it.
I wonder if it will work for me another 11 years? Maybe longer? The progress in PC is not as quick as it used to be...

Re: Looking for PC case...

That's for desktop PC, so I tend to favor ATX for future upgrability, but may consider mATX as well.

Looking for PC case...

I am looking for a PC case which meets following reqs:
- Mid/Mini Tower
- 2x external 5,25 bays
- USB-type C on the front panel
- 120mm fans

Corsair Obsidian 450D or BeQuiet Pure Base 600 are very close, with exception of USB-C.

Any hints?
Thank you!

Re: New futureproof C2Q rig: Please advise!

Are you sure your level of interest in something newer isn't RyZen ? [Where's my bitcoin Lisa?] Of course, it would be fun to upgrade just for the sake of it and getting back to good ol' times when I was building PCs for all friends and family, but I am beyond that (and older... :-? ). My point is ...

I am digging this post from 10 years ago (OMG! It is event fine with moderate gaming (yeah, I don't game much anymor...

AMD vs. Intel = any non-performance differences?

Altough my old C2Q6600 rig (with only a few minor upgades) is doing surprisingly well after almost 10 years :o I am starting considering all new desktop which will hopefully keep working for the next couple of years. I while think I understand pros and cons going Ryzen (more cores, better value) or ...

God bless EU for GDPR. Once GDPR regulation enters EU's legal system in 2018 such breach would result with monstrous fines (up to 4% of global revenue). Got any sources or more info on this? Don't you guys see it? He will release BR original unedited version eventually. Just after he cash, BR special edition. Thank you all for the input (especially brynal - very useful post!) I think I am more inclined towards NAS. Now does any body have any experience with Drobo? http://www.drobo.com/products/drobo-fs.php It seems you can just throw any HDDs lying around (different sizes) and still have a redundancy!

This is how SuperMemo works: 1. Collect learning material: SuperMemo helps you create collections of facts that you would like to remember (vocabulary in your case). 2. Test your memory: SuperMemo tests your knowledge of individual facts and collects information about your memory. 3. Make smart rep...

I would like to highly recommend the http://www.supermemo.com method. I tested it on myself, and honestly, it's the single most important factor I have managed to learn English 8) . You meant 1366 socket, right?

AFAIK, it supports Core i9 and therefore it will give you more upgrade options in the future. It also supports faster RAMs.
However, it's also significantly more expensive.I am not sure if it's a good deal at the moment...

Makes you look just like a fanboy, you know... Point taken. :D Anyway, I was not following stats for a last a year or two, and I am really surprised the shift is so significant. It also kind of (surprisingly) invalidates accusation of killing of competition by bundling browser. Is MSIE that bad?

I'm no expert, but it seems obvious, that you may be able to detect active devices, which are emitting energy or distort signal in any way.
I find hard to imagine detecting camera or device which listen to you wifi traffic.

Getting rid of bloated Nero and installing CDBurnerXP is refreshing experience.
Plus it's free.

Works flawlessly on Vista 64 + Plextor 716A DVD Burner.
