Re: Suggestion for upgrade

What resolution do ya game at? Anything greater than 1080p would still be bottlenecked by the GPU. Even at 1080p, most CPUs fall within a ~10FPS split which means you'd get way more FPS upgrading the GPU. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/1107 I got a 23" LG LED TV/Monitor (can't recommend it...

Re: Suggestion for upgrade

I'm aware that SSDs are super good and I almost drool when I see the prices at newegg. I'll eventually gonna get one for my rig, but right now the CPU is holding back my games (Crysis 3, Metal Gear Rising, TERA online, among others). Asus is the brand to go when talking about mother boards, right? A...

Re: Suggestion for upgrade

I know the SSD is the way to go to improve the system response and feel, but they are too expensive here. What is your definition of "too expensive"? For now, you are not going to see SSDs match 1-to-1 against mechanicals in $/GB, but the difference has been steadily shrinking. Which bran...

Re: Suggestion for upgrade

I know the SSD is the way to go to improve the system response and feel, but they are too expensive here. Maybe if I got someone, in the future, that can bring one for me from U.S. or another place that is cheaper than here, be sure I'll grab one. Perhaps a different motherboard is more future proof...

Re: Suggestion for upgrade

Thanks a lot guys for the input. @Kougar: My current memory sticks are DDR3 1333MHz (2x 4GB). My GTX 560 is the 2nd GPU i use with this computer (as far as I remember..). And I'm starting to feel that the CPU is holding back in some games. I gather the prices for the available core i5: Core i5-4430 ...

Suggestion for upgrade

Hey people, i come here to seek some advice on upgrading my current system. Mostly for gaming at 1080p if possible. I don’t go for ultra settings but trying to get more than 30 fps on this first part of a full system update. What I current have: AMD Phenom II X3 710 (triple core @ 2.6GHz) GTX 560 wi...

Re: Apparently AMD is set to slash FX CPU pricing on Septemb

I wonder if they will release a more modern chipset to go along with this CPU price slashing.
I would love to upgrade my current CPU for a FX one, but the available mobos are way behind in terms of what Intel is offering.

Re: Low-power, solid GPU for a gaming class?

I used to develop indie games on a iMac (can't remember the specs) and then used a LG notebook in the end of the contract (windows machine, better for me to work with). And I used Blender all the time with the GeForce gt520m without any problems. Sometimes even with Blender and Unity, altogether. Bl...

Re: Share Your Thoughts about Onboard Audio

I hope some well-known sound card maker takes one of VIA's Envy chips, builds a good sound card around it, and sells it for something like $50 - $70, something that undercuts the popular Sound Blaster models. I would like this as well. :D And another thing I would like to see is that mobo makers ma...

Re: Share Your Thoughts about Onboard Audio

Gigabyte seems to be using the VIA Vinyl VT2021 on some boards (like the GA-H77M-D3H).
Anyone knows if the VIA are better than the realtek? In terms of driver support, Gigabyte webpage got way newer drivers than the VIA webpage.
I saw some Intel and Asus boards with VIA chips as well.

Re: Xbox One revealed

Just a 2 cents on the DX9 and DX11 issue: most of the games on the market today still using the same engines released on the launch of PS3 and XB360. Re: CM Blizzard T2 Mini

CM Blizzard T2 Mini installed and cooling like I never seen before such low temps on my CPU. 27°C~28°C at idle and 33°C~35°C at 100% usage (handbrake video encoding). Before i was getting 46°C at idle and 58°C at 100% usage. The install is a little tricky on AMD side of things, especially if you do ...

Re: CM Blizzard T2 Mini

If I convert brazilian real to US dollars (1 US dollar = 1.97 BR real) a T2 mini would be 30 US dollars here, the TX3 EVO would be 50 dollars. We got really screwed down here in terms of computer hardware (a GTX Titan would be for 2000 dollars...). And yeah, my current cooler need a clean up, but i ...

Re: AMD Phenom II X4 960T vs Phenom X6 1055

Imo the 1055 is worth it. See the article bellow to find out why: http://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/zardon/overclocking-the-amd-1055t-3700mhz-out-of-the-box/ Maybe the 960T is easily overcloakable as the 1055T, as they are of the same family (thuban = zosma) and the 960T is a lil higher freq th...
