Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

Samsung_LCD said: How can you be sure its the CAPS? Bud, the only way is to open up your screen and inspect your capacitors as dozens have done (including myself) on this website. Nobody can tell you if they are bad or not without directly inspecting your unit. If you don't want to do this, and you ...

Re: screen flashes briefly then goes blank

I doubt it is your mainboard if you are not using integrated video. I like to exhaust the easy, simple things first before I start replacing things. I am assuming you are running XP, and XP is notorious for having "black-outs" with Hibernation mode, it can be a pain. I turn hibernation off...

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

Congrats on your accomplishment, and in so doing you learned a ton. Interesting that sometimes Sammy takes care of the complaint immediately, other times they won't. Doesn't give me a feeling of security with Sammy products.

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

I have seen that a lot on circuit boards; I can only guess that it is a stabilizing-strengthening technique. By "gluing" a couple of weak ones together is gives more stability. But I that is just a guess. By the way, a good example of a popped capacitor are the three in dead center, especi...

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

Best to list exactly what is happening on your TV so there is no confusion. IF you are getting a random scattering of pixels over the screen, AND it takes several "clicks" for the TV to start, you are almost guaranteed to have bad caps. My experience is in pg25 (next page back).

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

I got a sneaking suspicion that one or more of your caps that you got from Radio Shack may have gone bad, or one that you did not replace originally may have gone bad. Pull the back off again and recheck. If you fixed it once by replacing the caps, you did the correct thing initially.

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

Hi Mike, I am glad you got your TV fixed. In order to be objective about Samsung's policy, however, you might want to read what owners have gone through starting with the first posting in this forum. Plus there are several other forums on other websites with threads devoted to this problem. In the b...

Re: New build freezing

Did you try running it in Safe Mode? In SM only minimum drivers are loaded, so if the computer runs with no crashes that means one of your drivers is causing the problem.

Re: New build freezing

Try running it for a while in Safe Mode. I know it's a pain, but see if you can at least boot some of your programs and let it run. If your freezing stops, then 90% chance you have driver conflict somewhere. Another thing, disable your video card (I assume you have a separate card as opposed to inte...

Re: New build freezing

tested the RAM, did you use Memtest 86+ http://www.memtest.org/ ? Overheating usually doesn't cause freezing, but bad memory will. Overheating usually results in spontaneous reboot or shutdown. The other common culprit is conflict with video card drivers, but if you are using integrated video that ...

Re: Soltek SL-75KAV, will a Barton Athlon XP work with it?

Skrying is dead-on right in his comment. I have family, friends and church-members constantly approaching me and wanting to have their hopelessly outdated units "upgraded", and most of the time it really doesn't make a substantial difference, and then I "inherit" all the complain...

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

So I ordered a new power board Where are you ordering your power boards from? Did the newest board arrive looking like this, or is this one that you tried to repair yourself? The board in the picture you posted is damaged; this is either a reject from the factory or a previously used board that som...

Re: Samsung LCD TV - LNS4051 power on problem

I just got done with my 40" Samsung, the usual pixel/clicking problem. 16 screws on the rear and removed the rear cover. Yep, there they were, right in front. 4 bulging capacitors, 10Volt/1000 mf. 4 tiny screws hold in the circuit board, and 6 plugs to pop off. (When re-plugging them back you c...
