What's causing this odd behavior?

Hello everyone! So, this weekend I upgraded my video card (from an AMD HD7870 to a Nvidia gtx 1080). I used DDU to clear all drivers before I turned off my computer to do the change. I had to get different cables, since the old video card had mini-display port and the new one only has the large size...

Re: Another "Time for a new PSU?" thread

So..... this card is an inch longer than fits in my ol' Antec 300.... Time for a new case! Might as well just get a new power supply to go with it as well, since everything has to be transfered into a new case anyways.

Re: Another "Time for a new PSU?" thread

So... what if I upgraded to a 1080 instead of a 1070... PSU replacement or no? It's kind of freaky, knowing that *technically* both the 7870 and the 1080 require a 500w psu, when there's a huge performance difference for the same power usage!

Another "Time for a new PSU?" thread

Hi everyone... for the most part, I'm still using the PC that I build with the System Builder's Anonymous thread (older sandybridge build). While I'm working on saving up the funds for a rebuild, my video card is totally outdated now (AMD 7870) and am planning on upgrading to a 1070 sometime soonish...

http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/11/02/pixel-2-xl-units-shipping-without-operating-system/ I mean, I can't suggest ANYONE touch the 2 XL right now. They have completely wrecked this launch so badly. < O_o> what the hell I just received my Pixel 2 XL last night and so far no issues. the screen colo...

I just received my Pixel 2 XL last night and so far no issues. the screen color doesn't bother me, works wonderfully so far. Just adding in that they aren't all horrible.

Re: Is my VC dieing?

Well... I did a clean installation of Windows and haven't been getting driver crashes anymore. Now.... I'm getting memory errors. I ran memtest86 for a couple minutes and had 42(!) errors.

Yes, I used the Driver Uninstaller to wipe my drivers and installed a version from a couple months ago, and the crashing continued.

Re: Is my VC dieing?

That's another idea I had. I also did an in-place upgrade from 8.1, so I could do a refresh on my OS. I do have a couple 3-4 year old 1tb HDDs, but my SSD is only 128gb and I can't replace any hardware at the moment.

good call, that was my next idea. I've also used the driver cleaner utility to wipe my drivers, which didn't seem to help.

Is my VC dieing?

Ok, so November 2013 I bought an MSI 7870 GHZ edition video card. It was a considerable upgrade from my 6850 at the time. Now, I'm getting Driver crashes and sometimes whole system crashes when I'm playing games (FO4), as well as sometimes when I'm just watching videos (youtube/twitch). I also set m...

Re: New Builder Needs Help!

http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Three-Hundred-Two-Gaming/dp/B006TVQTHW From what I can tell, it is improved :P They added an intake filter for the power supply. So the power supply pulls air directly from outside of the case. They upgraded to USB 3.0, instead of 2.0. 1 x 120 mm side exhaust fan behind ...

Re: new Sandybridge build

I'm not really worried about the TIM, it's just not as nice as arctic silver or the like. I had a weird win 7 install anyways, so I wasn't surprised when it didn't work. Now I have to get things backed uP and a proper win7 install once I get my sad on Friday.

Re: new Sandybridge build

I am leaning towards the asus P8Z68 V-LE. My subtotal is ~40 more than my budget, but I can live with that, quality parts and all. Last time I build a PC I budgeted 125 on my CPU and it lasted me this long, though I was always wanting to upgrade to something better. With the 2500K, i can do some rea...

Re: new Sandybridge build

I am not SET on Asrock, I just like what I hear about their (and Asus) UEFI. I like the IDEA of ATX, being that it could possibly support a 2nd video card 2+ years down the line, maybe. Though this is one of those things that I could go mAtx and cut costs. Or go mAtx and get a better MB than the Asr...

Re: new Sandybridge build

Yeah, i was thinking about that MB, but trying to cut costs where I can... I really only have about $320 budgeted (IF i get at least $200 for my B-Day) for the CPU and MB, and I know I am going over with my choices already.
