Re: XP system unable to connect to internet

Thanks for the clarification. It makes total sense. the computer may have been a system that his friend or sister got from work when they upgraded their systems, which very well could have had a proxy set up in Internet explorer. or some malware that he picked up along the way in firefox. I totally ...

Re: New guitar!

Grats on the new strat..... we need pics. Personally, unless you go money to laying around, used guitars in good condition are usually the better choice. I have a old Kramer F-3000 from the mid 80's that I really enjoy. It is more playable than the fender american strat that my friend bought a few y...

Re: How loud are the R9 270X and 280X in real world terms?

I have a XFX 270x running GPU projects about 4 feet from me and I don't even know it is there. the MB and GPU are not even in a case. I think the power supply fan is louder than the GPU fans... and that is not loud at all either .... I had to literally put my ear right next to each of them to see wh...

Re: Laptop fan question

I have a vid card that tends to throttle every once in a while. I use MSI Afterburner to verify the current core clock speed. for me, Afterburner correctly sees my core clock speed at 400Mhz when it is throttling, while GPU-z still reports the original or overclocked setting of 700Mhz. My version of...

Re: Heart Rate Monitors

If your primary goal is to calculate how many calories you are burining throughout the day or during excercise then I would recomend the bodymedia fit armband. It is more acurate than a HRM. It monitors 5 diffenent aspect of your activiey and activity levels to calculate caloric burn. http://www.bo...

Re: this copy of windows is not genuine

Thanks for the replies, everything seems to be working correctly now. I did not think that a restore point would trigger that type of response, especially from only 2 weeks ago but I guess it did. Thanks for the links also .. save for future ref.

this copy of windows is not genuine

so, a little background, I have been having some issues with my laptop running really slow yesterday. After much diagnosing, it seems that AVG seems to have been the culprit. The laptop seems to be running smoothly now. AVG seems to have resolved its issues. One of the odd things that I notices is t...

Re: what is your dream car?

How about a maserati, so I can have some Ted Nugent blasting on the stereo. other than that I would go for the Tesla, or for a budget car I liked my Geo Metro which got 50 MPG without being a hybrid. Anyone remember the EV1?

Re: New build freezing

Check your memory speed and timings. make sure the mem is not being overclocked when at 3.2Ghz. Otherwise I would say the issue lies with the CPU.
