Upgrading NAS server, would a Pico work?

I currently have a "small" box server using a Core i3-2100 CPU and 4GB RAM. I would really like to replace it with something smaller and quieter. I was looking at Zotac's ZBOX Pico line, specifically the PI336 https://www.anandtech.com/show/12318/zotac-ces-2018-gemini-pico-pi226-pi336 I pa...

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

Thanks for the suggestion. I may consider that once I get the front chassis fan noise resolved.

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

How are you "controlling the fans through software"? The front and rear chassis fans are connected to the motherboard, and I'm using the ASUS AI Suite II software to control the speed. The software seems pretty rudimentary but it seems effective enough for my needs currently. What's that ...

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

After a couple weeks of ownership, I'm generally pleased with the system. There are a few minor annoyances though. 1) The video card fan is definitely noisy above 50% or so. I was able to "tune" it using MSI Afterburner so that it only hits noisy levels in extreme conditions. I was somehow...

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

I don't have all the parts yet. :) I think I'll have everything by Thursday (3/31). So, hopefully this weekend I'll have time to put it together.

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

I like quiet. The problem is finding a particular card that is quiet. Does anyone know of a 6950 that is known to be quiet? Certainly the power consumption is lower, but it doesn't seem like the particular 6950 that TR reviewed was much quieter under load than the card I originally picked out: http:...

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

A quick check on Newegg.com shows some troubling reviews (power cycle loops): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130574 Now, I usually take reviews like that with a grain of salt but when I see more than one (and there seem to be a lot) it gives me some reservation. Otherwise i...

Re: A few questions on Sandy Bridge build

Thank you very much for the comments so far. Re Power Supply: I will be using two 7200 rpm SATA hard drives - does that affect the power supply choice at all? For $15 more I could get a SeaSonic 620W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096 Re SSD: I'm still waiting for the c...
