Re: Recommend me a wireless keyboard and mouse

Hi! I'm using the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 . Personally, I really like it. The mouse works great on every surface I've tried and the keyboard feels solid to me. For gaming, do note that the F-keys are kinda weird. Weird meaning small, and I don't know how to explain, shallow? So gaming with t...

Re: Dragon's Age II

I'm just tired of the thing crashing! Oh man, so am I. Crashes sometimes when it loads, about one time every two hours. Other than that, I like the game so far, but it's a mixed bag. The combat system is way better than the original, and the skill system as well. I also think that the game has a po...

Re: New Build, finaly

Hi! Looking like a sweet setup there. Just want to know; do you have any experience with that CPU cooler? Looks kinda funky and it is relatively expensive. I don't know a lot about coolers, however, so it might be great for your build. Might want to get a Spinpoint F3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/...

You guys are too fast! I can do nothing but chime in. Those are all perfect recommendations and I would suggest going along those lines.

Re: Why not to buy slow CPUs even for HTPCs

Power consumption, Cost and Size. Might want to add Cooling options and Noise to that. I have many friends that want completely silent computers. A Zacate motherboard is perfect for this. The ASUS E35M1-I DELUXE for example, can do wireless internet as well. I guess this is not exactly your point, ...

~$120 for my AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
~$150 for my ASUS Radeon HD 6850 1GB "DirectCU"

In Sweden, we have none of your silly "mail in rebates".

Re: Its nice when things work.

It's nice when things work. Indeed! I was expecting all sorts of problems when i built my computer (this is my first build) but everything has worked flawlessly *knock on wood*. Seriously, I just put all the things together, installed W7 and the drivers and I was good to go. I'm quite amazed at how...

Re: Undoing the Experience: 9 Bad Habits in RPGs

I'm super guilty of the "rainy day" one. I almost always finish my games with a large surplus of money/potions/powerups because I "never know when I'll need them." I finished Dragon Age Origins with like 350 gold because I was waiting for "the moment." Mhmm, I'm guilty...

If you are working for ASUS (as it says in your signature), why are there not download links to your official site? I wouldn't download anything like this if it's not straight from the source.

Re: That old piece of harware you keep dragging along

Wow, some of you have some really ancient stuff. I still have some pretty old HDDs in my current system. Those old 7,200 rpm Seagates must be around 6 years old and still spinning making lots of noise annoying the hell out of me. One time they woke up my roommate when I was installing a windows upda...

Re: The MMORPG RIFT (Beta)

It's an unapologetic wow clone, and an ugly one at that. I'd be willing to experiment with it more if there wasn't some drama with the people I would have been playing with. Well, I wouldn't be so harsh, having played more (and particularly playing a warrior class, by far the funniest) I actually r...

Re: My new AMD build (first time builder)

The total in my shopping cart is now $ 788 before tax and rebates. That's only $3 more than my original build but I get 2 more cores of processing and upgrade to the next generation of video card. The advantages of a good community! I'm sure you will be very happy with this build. Good luck and hav...

Re: Build for a media computer

Hey! I think we should mention an AMD Fusion alternative. You can get a mini-ITX system very cheap, and I think it would fit your purposes. A build like this will also be very quiet, which is quite essential if you want to use it for watching movies and listening to music. Case: SILVERSTONE Sugo SG0...

Umm, seems like a pretty weird idea and I have never heard of it before. Hmm... I can see this becoming a thing, but not more than a thing. Just can't imagine serious businesses accepting BitCoins. Anyway, nice that you showed us!

Haha, this has taken an interesting turn. Nevertheless, thanks for your replies! It's truly good news that my hardware won't degrade in the sense I was thinking about!

Re: My new AMD build (first time builder)

Hey! First off, you want a 64-bit OS if you want to use all the RAM, which I guess you do. I would also consider getting a 6850 in stead of a 5770. The price is only about $24 higher (save some on that PSU?). I got the ASUS version, and it works like a charm. Cool, quiet and i run SC2 at about Ultra...

Degradation question

Hey TR! So I've been reading here for about a year now and I sure have picked up on a lot of things. I'm still quite the noob on many points. This has only fueled my curiosity, however. My question for you today is quite a simple one. Does hardware (lets take processors for example) degrade over tim...

Re: Build Opinions

Hi! Looks like a nice system. Might want to consider getting the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB instead of the WD. The Spinpoint was, after all, the winner in TR's test of 1TB hard drives (http://techreport.com/articles.x/19330/11). It is most likely also cheaper. EDIT: Noticed that the F3 wasn't availabl...

The MMORPG RIFT (Beta)

Hey everyone! This tuesday I got invited to join the open beta testing for the new mmo RIFT. I had previously played loads of different mmos like WoW, Guild Wars, Lotro as well as free games such as Rappelz (man that sucked, still leveled to 120...) 4story and a bunch of others i can't even remember...

I suppose a lot has to do with the user experience of OSX. Personally, I just do not like it. Perhaps I am too used to Windows.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm glad I finally joined the forums.

Well, if I will not notice any bump in performance, I might as well wait. Particularly since I am so glad with how everything works. I will probably get another 4GB stick when summer arrives.

Take care

RAM Guidance

Hi everyone! First time poster, long time reader and follower of TR's forums. It should be made clear that I am a beginner, so it would be nice to get simple answers. I recently got a new system, my very first build, and naturally I had to make some kind of mistake. Here´s what I bought: MSI 890FXA-G...
