Batch file as admin in specified directory.

I need to run a batch file as administrator. I can easily do this by right clicking or making a shortcut and changing the properties. The issue is when you do so it runs that from the Windows system directory and not the directory where the batch file resides even if I set the running directory. The...

Memory speed on Ryzen matters a lot

Memory speed on Ryzen matters a lot, not timings as much, but speed, since it affects communication between the CCXs. I noticed big differences myself in most Geekbench tests, testing with 2133MHz, and 2667 MHz. Video with many gaming benchmarks vs 7700k @ 5GHz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZS2X...

Re: 1700X stuck at 1333 MHz Memory

It's probably running at the right speed. Remember that RAM runs at double the data rate of the clock, so you should be getting 2666 MT/s from that 1333 MHz clock speed. Some utilities report the clock speed in MHz rather than the actual transfer rate. Just ran Geekbench, memory bandwidth seems as ...

1700X stuck at 1333 MHz Memory

Have ASUS Prime X370 Pro, 2666 RAM, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232175 Running 1333MHz. I have the 2 sticks in the A2 and B2 slots, due to clearance with Hyper212 EVO. Could this be an issue? I can put in A1 and B1 slots slots if I install RAM first, then the cooler. Up...

Re: Windows 10 disable driver update.

2 hours later, I get a low res screen with the new driver, I guess it's off to EBay with the card to make room for a 470. Why blame the card? Just install Win8 or Win7. Unless you're banking on D3D 12. The issue is only on Nvidia cards. Not necessarily the cards fault for updating drivers, but with...

If you're not running Pro, then you're just flat screwed. The WinAero tweak tool might be able to save you, but odds are you need to anytime upgrade to Pro. Link Ummm, yeah, I don't feel like paying $100 for a stupid "feature", for the "free" upgraded OS when I didn't have the i...

Re: Windows 10 disable driver update.

This is Windows 10 giving you woe. There are a couple of solutions for you to make this stop. 1. Update to the Anniversary Edition of Windows 10 Pro. It has a new Group Policy under Windows Update to stop the Driver Updates. ( Link ) 2. If you're not ready for the Anniversary Update yet, you still ...

Re: Windows 10 disable driver update.

Isn't this a problem unique to your particular PC, given that it's not a common problem for people with these cards? Perhaps, but in my situation, I would rather not spend weeks figuring it out. I have already reinstalled the driver about 7 times. Today has been particularly bad. It often would tak...

Re: Tesla autopilot tragedy

If that diagram is correct, the semi driver is at fault for making a left-hand turn and failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Semi-drivers frequently assume that people are going to see them due to their large size, but under the right circumstances (empty flatbed with blinding sun behind it) that ...

Re: AMD Zen Said to be VERY COMPETITIVE

Doubling the performance of an 8350 would go beyond even AMD's own projections of the sort of IPC improvements they expect. Unless Zen's architecture happens to be unusually well-suited to running CineBench, I think that's about as likely to happen as me winning the lottery. And I don't even play t...

Re: AMD Zen Said to be VERY COMPETITIVE

The 5960X was released in 2014. Well it is a $1,000 chip, so if they can match this performance it is a huge leap. 8350 is currently $160. Why wait? You can put together a nice Intel based system today or a Broadwell-E in a couple of months. Depends on what you currently have. If you are not in a h...

Re: AMD FX Appreciation Thread

FX-6350 has served me well. Bulldozer has it's flaws, but it is still good. Handbrake runs fast, and I don't ever feel my CPU is holding me back. I like the CMT idea better than SMT because you actually have more cores, rather than logical ones. It would have been nice if the 20/22nm processes didn'...

Looking for good case for AM1 Kabini build. Included power supply would be preferable for cost reasons, wouldn't mind if needed external DC brick plugged in. Memory clocks don't apply.

I have a 6850, slight stock OC (800/1050). I am having an issue getting memory clocks below 1000. I am using for GPGPU, that is totally uneffected by memory speed, and lowering lowers my temp by ~6C. I was able to get it to work before, sometimes, and once by force killing CCC. I restarted today to ...

I can underclock the RAM down to 725, below that it fails to accept it and the sliders reset. Re: AMD Clocks not sticking.

I know it only runs set speeds under load, and lower under idle to save power, it runs at default 800/1050 when I set it to 830/730. It may switch, but will revert for some reason, even though afterburner/CCC show it at set speeds.

Re: AMD Clocks not sticking.

Tried closing afterburner. It doesn't seem to be an issue with afterburner changing profile, it reports that its where I want it, and CCC reports its where I want it, but GPU-Z shows default clock rates, and GPGPU performance reflects same thing. Only surefire way I know is restart or logout, but it...

I am having an extremely annoying issue. If I change the clocks on my HD 6850, they don't stick. Using MSI Afterburner, since I also use it for custom auto fan profi...

Re: Geforce GTX 680 pre-game party

I am underwhelmed @ Kepler, I was thinking they would beat the HD 7970 by a greater margin. This is the GTX 680, which isn't the top end, but I don't expect the 690 to be that much faster (expecting more of 570 vs 580 performance). I think the 7970 will OC better too, for those interested. I guess ...
