Performance expectation?

I was given an HP xw4600 workstation. It has an E8600 and 8GB of ram. I just ordered a gtx 560ti and a new PSU. What kind of performance should I expect compare to new hardware today? I will be playing BF3 mostly. It should be fine I would think.

Re: Cloning Windows NT 3.5 drive-HELP!

Old machine works fine. Boots fine with the old HDD. I will mention the vm solution to them, but funds are dry. I used partition commander and created a partition to 2gb and set it to active. copied the partion over and still sits at the black screen. What a pain.

Re: Cloning Windows NT 3.5 drive-HELP!

No it just gets past the BIOS screen and sits at a black screen. I am cloning a 1.624GB IDE drive to a 250GB IDE drive. I made a 2gb partition on the new drive and used HD clone to copy the partition on the old drive to the new partition. It is a FAT partition. The reason for the cloning is there is...

Cloning Windows NT 3.5 drive-HELP!

I clone SATa drives with no problem, but I came across a WINNT 3.5 Drive that needs to be cloned for a backup. The drive is 1.87GB IDE. I tried cloning to a 250GB IDE but it won't boot. I thought winnt had a drive limitation. I use HD clone. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: OC 2500K and Z77 Board

Well, that's your problem. When overclocking a 2500K, you modify the turbo multipliers, not the base ones - the base ones are locked, the turbo ones are unlocked. Turn back on Turbo! :P Oh, and I'd recommend turning back on all the things you turned off, while you're at it. That worked! I was alway...

Re: OC 2500K and Z77 Board

I did not even think that compatibility would be an issue. Sheeeeeet!! I wonder if a BIOS update is coming. I hope. Thanks Credible for pointing that out.

OC 2500K and Z77 Board

I am trying to OC my 2500K on my MSI Z77MA-G45 board. The problem I am having is the BIOS shows CPU at 4.0ghz (Multiplier at 40), but CPUz shows multipier at 33 and 3300mhz. I have EIST off, turbo boost off, Power Technology off, C1E off and Overspeed Protection off. I ran Prime95 and it stays at 3....

Re: Do you like your job?

Wow. I am a little surprised by the responses. Management plays a big part in everybody's roles. I have always been a firm believer in one world....RESPECT! I'll respect you, but if I do my job, and I do it correctly, and on time you best respect me. Management fails to see this! My current boss is ...

Do you like your job?

Just sitting here at work thinking to myself....Do I like my job? Desktop support is fine but you get to that point where a job......is just a job. Approaching 40 and it seems the time window is closing on learning new things. Technology motivates me, but the job market is so cutthroat. I am lucky t...

Re: Graphics card dead?

No physical damage to it. It looks fine. It made a very high pitched sound. It has been in my system since July without any issues. Wierd. I submitted an RMA, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Graphics card dead?

I have an HIS 6950 2GB non-ref card that while playing BF3 made a horrendous sound and the computer shut off. I reseated the card and now all it does is the fan spins 100%, but no video. I heard the system post, but no video. I installed another card and my system is working. Would this be something...
