Re: $1100 High End Build

I am an EVGA fan and have 2 GTX 460s in SLI. Great cards but their fans are loud, at least the version I got (blower fans). Your EVGA 670 card also has a blower fan so be aware that as the fan RPM ramps up the noise will also increase. I got rid of the blower fan and installed an Arctic Cooling hear...

Re: Any experience with 240GB Sandisk Extreme SSD?

Without a model number it is hard to answer your question, but these are the two SSDs at Newegg, the reviews are not that many but a good start.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006550+50001404+40000636+600038500&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=Fal...

Re: Which SSD to get?

For me, reliability is a must. My mobo only supports SATA II so I was limited to these bandwidths looking fon an SSD. I looked through numerous ones on Newegg and the Intel SSDs all stood out in terms of happy customers. I bought mine based on that and several months later, the thing is rock solid. ...

Re: New build, graphics issues

Another thing to note is that, at least for my ASUS M4N98TD EVO board with two PCIE slots for the video card, the one closest to the CPU is the one to use if you only install one card.

Re: Making my PC quieter

The experts are good place to start. To really tackle the GPU noise you are going to have to splash out on an aftermarket cooler. There are some comparisons of the quieter ones somewhere (Google is your friend). AFAIR Thermalright Shaman and the three fan monster cooler by Arctic Cooling are the be...

Re: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 vs Stock AMD

If the casing of the Arctic cooler fan is damaged, then it may begin to rattle hence contribute to the noise. I also have an ASUS mobo and have found that the only way to control the fans are in the BIOS, like you did. I don't really know how to make the motherboard sensor similar to the AMD core te...

Re: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO Rev.2 vs Stock AMD

You need this version of Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro: ACFZ64-PRO, coolerguys.com has it. I had the same issue (AMD Athlon II X4 965) and the cooler you now have. I ended up RMAing it and getting the one from coolerguys. The ACFZ64-PRO will make your fan suck air from the front to the back as opposed t...
