Some of us are waiting to see if where the majority of the "old guard" goes to. I don't have to comment on the front page articles. I visit for the forums. My visits are down to 1-2 a week from being constantly logged on... my browser even flushed my password so I had to figure out what it...

Re: best cooler for few days?

Yeti are amazing... but you are paying for it. I use Coleman 7 day marine coolers. the definition of the 7 day is that if you fill it with ice on an average day, in 7 days when you open it there will still be some ice remaining. I do 9 and 16 day camping trips. 16 day trips require a major restock. ...

Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

Meh seems more hassle than it's worth, I just put the disc in. Changing Discs simply isn't a hassle to me. It also means you need to get up off the couch every couple of hours, which is probably a good thing! To me, with all the DRM, they just feel like a scam. DVD and BD have DRM too. But no...

Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

My issues with digital copy. initial ones were 1 year license started day of release on DVD. it did not state this on the package. Ultraviolet service shutting down. this was a big service, back in the earlier days seems they did remastering of older movies to be DVD and Blu-ray quality. Later they ...

Re: Vampire, The Masquerade: Bloodlines II available for pre-order

Why do people pre-order? There's rarely any incentive at all, and if there *is* an incentive it's usually freemium/mtx rubbish that only serves to make the whole thing worse overall anyway. They're not going to run out of stock! There is no need to reserve your copy! Early access. Access to beta. s...

Re: Wisdom teeth removal - share your experience and tips

The doctor is in his 50s, so he has enough experience, and he specializes in dental surgery - oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Don't equate age and experience with good. Techniques change and get better. Experienced docs sometimes stay with the old ways. My second doc was mid 30's and was amazing. T...

I'm running HGST NAS and Ironwolf drives all 8TB in my NAS.
I skipped on WD which used to be my favoured brand since their NAS line was all 5400 rpm until you bought Pro.

So far no issues with either and been running 2 years.
FreeNAS never gets powered off.

Re: Cannot update firmware on old Samsung 840...

change ports on drive between controllers if possible.
A lot of motherboards have 2 brands of controllers on board (i.e. Marvell and Intel) and the ports are usually different colours. swap to other set for firmware update.

Had this issue on an old AMD board.

why? Why not? It's potentially cheaper/faster/easier/more efficient than growing pot for the same effects. But I want beer, not pot.
