Mine arrived in the mail yesterday, too. Pay attention because there's an expiration date on the check, too. All checks expire eventually. If an expiration timeframe is not explicitly stated on the check, 180 days is typical. According the accounting folks in my office it is 60 days. banks t...

Re: Surprise! Creator 10 Update Applied...

So I agreed to Windows 10 "feature updates" on my workstation. And now I got the creator update. Whoops! Well, it seems to be fine. So what's next? I had one of the attempts by MS come up always on top and graying out the entire screen. I had to power off to get rid of it... they are real...

Re: Safely hosting web services from home

Even a 5mbit connection is fine for anything non-commercial and non-multimedia. Heck, you could run a Pandora quality "internet Radio" service for 20 users no problem on that, or stream 3 netflix-SD quality videos on that. I would not say that... I find remote access to my server painful ...

Re: Safely hosting web services from home

Well I am going to take a different argument then the rest of these guys. What is your upstream on your internet? Most home services are much slower upstream than downstream. i.e. 30/5. a typical business even doing minor hosting is 100/100 or greater. also hosting on that 30/5 link users accessing ...

Re: Am I crazy to buy a friends used parts?

My friend just upgraded his system to a new I7-7700K which meant a new motherboard and memory as well. He offered me most of his old parts for $300. Its basically identical to my primary system and the parts will be used for my wife, son, daughter as a secondary system. So for $300 I get: I7-4770K ...

I've always asked friends when choosing Antivirus... who do you want to have a back do to your systems.
Only naming major vendors
USA (Norton and McAfee)
Russian (Kaspersky)
Panda (Spain)
Qihoo (China)
I'm sure more can be added here.. :-)

When you pull a battery you are down for a few minutes.

Re: 3.5" HDD enclosure AC/DC adapters make me uneasy

Most times they don't make their own power bricks and just sourced ones that meet their needs.

I keep a small pile of them since they are fairly similar and in case I cannot find the one that came with whatever I am plugging in.

I do read the item to match the voltage and current.

Current the cable can handle.
I saw a 2A and a 3A on the links you gave.

Some phones require the higher current for either faster charge or just charging at all.

Is that due to a new version of Office? We're just in the early stages of getting Windows 10 in our environment, and will likely be going from Office 2010 to 2016. it is Office 2010. I don't think we have tried 2016. Many of the plug ins are not yet certified for 2016. One issue we see is Excel jus...
