Re: What shows are you recently watching?

Just finished watching the first 2 seasons of The Killing, damn that was done very well and had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was actually happening.

Re: really weird charging problem with my V20

Good to hear about the V20 though that dual screen does not really interest me. When I first got it I was kinda thinking "is this really gonna be useful or is it just a gimmick?" I've actually found it pretty useful in its own right. It's really nice to have a set of shortcuts to some app...

As for chargers, those are one of those things I will simply not buy cheap for, in the end whats an extra $20 to get quality and reliability.

Re: Guild Wars 2 performance

I suppose I'll test Planetside 2 here in a bit. These are some great suggestions thus far. I'd think if WDDM was cutting DX9 performance potentially in half it would be a much wider reported issue, though. synthel2's thoughts sound like a good track to go down. Any ideas on how one would go about t...

Re: G4 and Android 7

I have been one of the few it seems who really likes the G4, was worried what was said about the G5 and figured may as well skip the G6 as well and move on to the V20 but learned the V30 is coming out in September so may as well wait for the V30. So far as the wireless charging goes count me out, af...

She doesn't, but I do. I'm not sure I'm at liberty to say anything about HPSS and how it is or isn't used. :P I wouldn't bet on tapes being terribly long-lived in the world of exascale though... "Gamers on a tight budget of around $1000 USD should consider the 15.6-inch Y700 as it is currently one of the least expensive systems with a GTX 960M alongside the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro. We recommend dropping both UHD and touchscreen options in favor of a SKU with secondary HDD and proper GTX ...

Re: .flac to .mp3 conversion?

What phone are you using these days, JBI? APTx is helpful, if your phone supports it. But it's still Bluetooth. And your audio quality is only as good as your worst point. I wonder what the standard bitrate/codec whatever is in common Bluetooth audio profiles. I'm only using a cheap Kenwood head un...

Re: .flac to .mp3 conversion?

I'd like to carry around the whole collection, but it just isn't feasible. Fortunately, I don't listen to most of it that often, and my entire "active" collection fits into a 128GB SD-card (as VBR-0 MP3's). It works great, but I do get irritated when people ask me why phones need an SD-ca...

Armchair self-psychoanalysis time... I've come to the realization that I've increasingly been listening to darker, more aggressive/dissonant music over the past few years. You say you are not chasing cores and I understand that but in the same breath want to future proof and you use it only for gaming. I think its safe to say that games ARE going to use more cores in the future and maybe one of these, since you are sticking with Intel may be the better option. i7-7800X

I'm sure a big part of it is the result of their $17 an hour minimum wage because that price for the MB is beyond belief.

Re: Coffee Lake 6 core, this August with z370 chipsets?

Interesting, yet another one of the reasons I won't consider Ryzen is how impractical it is for me as an ITX person, the lack of a gpu means more heat, noise and cost in a small case. Intel onboard is perfect for my needs and it's extremely possible Intel will be the first to make a 6 core CPU with...

Good god man you have issues, I read the original thread and then saw this post and said to myself could it be...and sure enough here you are. Re: Coffee Lake 6 core, this August with z370 chipsets?

Also, we're getting vastly off topic here, if it suits me or not is irrelevant, either Ryzen 8/16 @ 4ghz will suit me, or Coffee 6/12 @ 4.2ghz (or higher, presumably) will suit me. One of the 2 systems will beat my current one. I personally suspect if the Coffee Lake exceeds 4.5ghz and is otherwise...

Re: Bye, Bloomfield: First Big PC Overhaul

If you want another 7 year processor, spend the money and get the 1700X. Save the money from going a step down on the motherboard and the PSU. 750W is a lot for a system with just a 960. 600 watt gold or titanium should be just fine. This was my initial thought as well, move down to a 'cheaper' sea...
