Re: Advice on my build?

Very well-balanced system. I especially like the case and the CPU & GPU combo. I'd choose this PSU over the Silverstone PSU. It costs the same, it's modular, and it's a reliable brand too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049&Tpk=corsair%20cx430-m I would also choo...

According to this review, ASUS generally makes great GPU coolers.

Re: Need help fine-tuning this Z77 gaming build

Also, while I love the look of the Corsair 600T case I picked, I'm wondering whether it's a bit overkill for the components. Any comments on that? Another case that I read a lot of good things about is the NZXT Phantom 410. Might be worth looking into. The case is really a matter of taste and prefe...

Re: Need help fine-tuning this Z77 gaming build

Thank you both for the detailed answers. I have two more questions: 1. How do I know the CPU cooler will fit with the RAM sticks on the board I chose? The RAM sticks I picked have heatspreaders on them that make the sticks significantly taller. It's hard to tell whether that will be a problem judgi...

Re: SSD upgrade in a laptop -- best options?

I own a white Acer 1810tz with a 64 GB Crucial m4. No problems at all! Updating the firmware was also easy. I just used an application provided by Crucial and followed the instructions.

Re: Cheap desktop PC

Checking e-mails, using Office, web browsing (and YouTube) do not push the CPU much. Therefore, even a Celeron or Pentium dual-core Sandy Bridge CPU would easily suffice as a CPU. You could save quiet some money by going this route. Also, if your friend doesn't a large hard drive capacity then I wou...

Re: New build check

If you plan to overclock your CPU (I assume that because you've chosen a CPU with a "k" in the end) then it would be wise of you to purchase an aftermarked cooler for your CPU. Have you considered that or do you already use one?

Re: First time building a gaming PC: $1000-$1200 budget

If you intend to OC your CPU, then there's no way around an aftermarked CPU cooler. A cheap, well-performing & very popular one is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. If you're willing to spend an extra cash, then perhaps Scythe Mugen 3. The Cooler Master HAF 912 only has 16 mm of space behind the ...

Looks very good. If you intend to overclock then purchasing an aftermarket cooler is a must. If you need any recommendations, I'll gladly give you some.

Re: New build... suggestions

Since you're not overclocking, you could easily live by with a motherboard with a H67 or H77. That way, you can save some $$.

Case: A case from Corsair or Fractal Design should be a safe bet. But I don't know many aluminum cases.

Otherwise, the components look good.

Re: Bulding a silent PC and a few other questions

Video card. The MSI and ASUS are renowed for their quietness af SPCR (I'm a member myself). Unless you want über SPCR-hard-to-measure silence, then video cards from MSI and ASUS should be very quiet. RAM. Any review I've read about the impact of high-speed RAM shows that the difference is neglectibl...

Re: NZXT Source 210 Elite USB 3.0 - $50

what's the difference between the elite and the regular nzxt source 210 http://www.outletpc.com/aq9281.html the Elite has 2 fans while the non-Elite has 1 fan. Moreover, the Elite utilizes tool-less mounting systems for 3,5" and 5,25" bays. And yes, the front USB 3.0. The case really seem...
