Monitor advice please + amusing feedback post @newegg.ca

Hello fellow gerbils, I am in the process of U/G my entire system and have decided to go the LEGO way - one piece at a time. From: ASUS A8N-E Athlon64 1800+ 4GB DDR400 Kingston MSI RX600XT-TD128E Thermaltake V3 Black Dell m782p To (so far): MSI Z77A-GD55 i5-3570K 8GB DDR-1600 (2x4) Corsair Low Profi...

Re: First time computer build, any advice?

So I'm flying solo on this and doing the best I can. If it is anything like pulling apart a PS3 to reapply thermal paste on the cpu/gpu then I should be ok. I'm mainly following one of the newegg youtube videos where they go in depth in making a system. I know in the video they actually put togethe...

Well, according to MSI's supported RAM list your memory should be fine. I take it this is a recent problem? If you've just developed this issue out of the blue I'd suggest a failure of some sort, not necessarily the memory: 1-The memory (duh) 2-The motherboard (if it can't set the voltages correctly...

What's your motherboard?
How old is it?
Did you buy the board and memory in a bundle or separately?
If so, was the memory certified for your board?

Re: new build questions

Hi all I am going to build a new computer, and i was thinking about getting an intel core i5 3550 or a 3750K. From what i've learned, both have VT-x instructions, but the K version lacks VT-d. Since I do use virtualization software, and I think that a merely 100 MHz speed difference is almost nothi...

Re: Sandy or Ivy

I would probably bite at around $170-$180. (I've actually got an informal rule that I will not pay more than $200 for any single component. I think I've broken this rule less than a half dozen times in the past 15 years.) Good rule. Do you include processors and video cards? Yup. And given that I'm...

Admittedly, I'm going mainly by the ".p" extension.

Plus, as you say it has been 20+ years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenEdge_Advanced_Business_Language
