Re: Battlestation finished, ready for OC and Upgrades?

How did you get that fan speed vs. temp graph on your ASRock board? I cant find it in my UEFI. It is a tuning software you have to download from ASRock, called ASrock Extreme Tuning Utlity(AXTU) under the utility section, Once you open that up it have a Fan control tab where you can set your Fan sp...

Re: Intel "Haswell" Speculation thread

OK.. I've been thinking about this a bit more, and I've figured out that I've been looking at Haswell from the wrong direction entirely. When they pulled that demo with Haswell running at less than 10 watts, my brain started grinding and now I've got it: Haswell is not meant to compete with AMD, Ha...

Re: Core i5-3550 works w/o heatsink

An Ivy Bridge CPU's TJmax is 105C so 100 is actually surviveable for short amount of time and it have built in throttling feature to save it at that temperature, but you definately need to have to pay closer attention to your hardware next time. I set up my temperature monitoring system(RealTemp) to...

Apologies for the delay, finally put everything together and I posted Pictures(there will be more) and Benchmarks on front page, but for those who don't want to go over there to look, here it is: The whole thing took me a week plus to put together mainly because the PH-TC14PE installation was a nigh...

Re: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 narrower than regular ATX, flex iss

The smaller width won't cause shorting issues. It just means that rather than 3 rows of screws like a standard ATX motherboard it has just the first 2 rows and some PCB hanging off from the second row. Yes, the PCB will flex whan you plug in connectors that are beyond that second row, this can be e...

Re: Gaming PC built finished, Review before I buy plz

It's not all steel- the front and top are all plastic. I did do some research before posting :). Performance won't be identical in a testing scenario, but the system won't be louder nor will it overclock less. Effectively the same performance in a smaller package. Further the Thor V2 is a giant ope...

Re: Gaming PC built finished, Review before I buy plz

Looking at the Thor V2: primarily, it's much larger, slightly heavier (3lbs), much lower quality build, and uses only mesh to protect fans/filter. Also, it's more expensive. You can expect near identical performance, if you don't break the case putting it together or moving it :). The weight is uni...

That's actually (mostly) what I was suggesting. I only added a side panel fan to help cool a second GPU, otherwise it's not needed. Also, the integrated water-coolers don't need maintenance- they just work. Bolt an H60 or H80 to the back and call it done; you have a positive pressure setup with thr...

With just one GPU, at most you can use a fan in that bottom spot blowing straight up into the GPU intake, assuming a FTW or similar blower. I used the side-panel spot as an additional intake due to a CF setup which worked extremely well; hell, the bottom card was 10c lower than the top one, but tha...
