Re: Confused among GPU brands

EVGA has the best support and warranty service. I trust them. When it comes to GPUs there aren't many bells and whistles worth your time and the ones that exist, EVGA provides anyway. Look for EVGA cards if possible. Everything else is a compromise.

Re: Internet speed?

7 is fine. Gaming requires very little bandwidth, it's all about latency, and while that tends to go down some with increase in speed, that's not an absolute rule and the law of diminishing returns sets in fast (esp. by ~10mbps). agreed, its a common misconception, but one that ISPs do nothing to d...

Re: Windows, SSD's, and the swap file...

The one general rule about virtual memory is that the experts will never give you a straight answer. Most of the information you'll find is outdated by 10 years, and doesn't account for systems with more than 2GB of RAM. Everything else is just opinions based on no testing whatsoever. Yes, they do ...

Interestingly enough, I opened Gamespot.com and saw the same problem and I'm running windows 8 with a 4.4ghz hex-core with 32gb of ram... tabbing around seems fine, but other websites seem to hesitate for like 1/4th of a second before loading. .25"-4" penetration. do you really want to wear a vest that is 6" deep front and back? we could rename our marine corp the "michelin corp." I'll take Kevlar or ceramic thanks. If they want to put some gel cushions underneath the actual armor, I'll leave that up to them.

Re: Question[s] regarding various GPUs for folding

Lack of folding testing in the Tech Report GPU review and comparison articles is an annoyance for me, and I have never gotten any response from TR. I am left to believe that management is bored with it or doesn't think we need or want this information. To me this is a huge lacking, and any coverage...

the price was 2.49 (75% 0ff).

hit the windows key, type regedit and change/delete xxxxx. bad idea bro. The difference is that the end user was meant to have that kind of access on Windows. Re: Power surge every time the blower starts

In all honesty to answer your question completely I would need to know the type of breaker, wiring configuration and a few other things, but generally speaking: It's not really common to see something on a dedicated circuit to affect a different circuit at all. A circuit is a group of physical wires...

I used a regular 9.99 box fan and a custom intake/exhaust made from cardboard, tinfoil and aluminum tape so that I could use cold winter air to add a little thermal headroom. it worked very well. quiet. I always got nervous when it rained though.

I'm still waiting for the comparisons between the two as 'media centers', though Microsoft's insistence that you pay for Live! is a pretty clear endorsement of Sony :). I would say bad trend but only because they think we are going to pay $10-20 to pre-alpha test their games for them. I feel like if you are still working out the bugs for sale, the game should be f2p, if only because it gets you a whole bunch of feedback and bug reports. it really takes a pair to de...

This doesn't seem like the type of thing you should adopt early anyway, in a few years that chip might become practically standard, after-all its not like its a complicated chip.
