Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

Fractal Design XL with all Noctua PWM fans hooked up to the motherboard. EVGA G3 850W PSU. Very happy with both. The EVGA PSU is probably the best PSU in terms of low noise / ripple and high quality components vs price right now. It's also semi-passive and the fan only spins when you play games (hig...

Re: Help my computer shocked me!

If you've got a power problem all roads lead to the PSU. Be very careful now! You could die from this stuff. Even with the power cord out the capacitors hold a pretty nasty charge. If the case has been dropped and the PSU is shorted to something all bets are off. Also - as a golden rule you should n...

Re: Headphones on a Plane

In that price range you can get the Shure SE535-LTD In-Ears (they red ones).

They have superb noise-isolation, are easy to stow away in a jacket and don't need any charging or batteries. Easy choice in my book, they will blow any headphone in that price range clear out of the water.

It's roughly the same price as Win7 and Win8 was.

However - the aussy dollar is **** so that's probably why. It's about $100 usd on amazon, same as ever.

Re: Any clock makers here?

You might have to look into making some kind of shaft extender... now that came out kinkier than intended... but you get the idea.

Lathe, ball bearings, nuts and bolts and threads would be the professional way.

Otherwise 2-component super epoxy is seriously strong if done right..

Re: Grado

I Have lowly Grado SR-80's, but they make my music sound like it's on vinyl. I love the sound and can only imagine what the better models sound like. Seriously - don't go there. The SR-60 and SR-80 are still the best headphones they make. And all Grado's lack bass so don't buy if you're a basshead ...

Once you've upgraded to something like a ROG Swift with g-sync all memories of CRT as the best option for gaming fade quickly... very quickly.

Same. The whole multi-core and multi-threaded thing is just because we're crap at increasing actual single-core computing performance. The ideal computer only has one core, honestly.

Could be old spark plugs, when was the last time you changed those? Maybe fuel filter, check that. Some heavy duty fuel system cleaning additive might be worth a shot. Could be EGR. Could also be you ICM.

So you have data, backup and offsite backup. So far so good, better than many in fact. But then you decided to run your home-brewed script on all three locations at once.... yeah, you deserved that one. Should still be possible to recover the data though, provided he shut everything down and didn't ...

Keep playing. Let me know how you deal with the two big dungeons locked behind doors that require Skeleton Keys. That's where the lord executioner was, the ghost with the scythe and dash attack. He's dead. Whacked him good. Just started on the second skeleton key gate to get some evil crystal or so...

I got Grim Dawn in the early access period. It's cool, but... well, Path of Exile is the Diablo-like for me. (;・∀・) It's funny how people's taste vary. PoE never did anything for me, for me it felt like an imitation rather than the real thing and I could never get into it. The story didn't grab me ...

Looks interesting. I'm still waiting for the game that can recreate the atmosphere of Diablo 1. The music, the poetry.....even the color palette was much darker and brooding. Diablo 2 still had great music, but the rest of it softened up substantially (though some was still there). Diablo 3 just ha...

Re: So, this new Star Wars movie - Spoiler Lock Lifted

The original trilogy isn't exactly a tour de force of deep plot arcs or compelling dialogue, either. It's a campy space western which recycles cliched plot elements and is filled with over-the-top costumes, entertaining special effects, and a number of memorable one-liners. If you liked that, then ...

I thought is was about average, maybe worse than that. Poor stuff (of the top of my head): 1. Nearly non-existent back-story that makes no sense given the Return of the Jedi. 2. Poor re-hash of the original "New Hope". 3. Typical Abrams "run here, run there, run everywhere&quo...
